To mark the 17th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts on May 2, 2015, J.K. Rowling took the chance to apologise for the death of one of her beloved characters, Fred Weasley, which she admitted was the worst for her out of all those who died in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Also, Pottermore gave a preview of the Battle of Hogwarts moments concept art that will be featured for the upcoming chapters of Deathly Hallows, hopefully set to release online sometime soon. Those can be seen here. | |

I didn't like it, but I think it made sense from a literary perspective to kill Fred. It was unrealistic for all the Weasleys to make it through the series, and Fred being part of a set had the biggest impact. Unfortunately, I see her thought process. BUT I STILL CRIED SO HARD! *wibbles*
