The wizarding world still shaking in the wake of the events that took place at the end of last term, eyes were all pointedly turned to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as countless parents flooded the Owl Post with concerned complaints and angry demands regarding the overall safety of the school they are sending their children to. The Board of Governors, with support from the the Minister for Magic, Morgan. P. Nickles, then intervened by hiring a new Headmaster and using him to see who among staff should or should not remain teaching at Hogwarts. All this was soon revealed at the Start-of-Term Feast where ex-Auror, Julian Scrimgeour, made an appearance along with trusted colleague Calvin Fletcher who was set to fill the vacant Divination position. Scrimgeour promptly handed a letter requesting her immediate removal from school premises to Headmistress Regina Hawthorne, signed by the Board of Governors. Hawthorne was clearly taken aback by this development, but graciously left the Great Hall without protest - at least at the time. Scrimgeour, now in his official capacity as Headmaster at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, then addressed the Great Hall in proclamation:

"This term is going to be one of improvement. It has become evident that there has been a severe lack of safety protocol as well as regard for school rules. This year we will be returning to the basics and adopting a new school initiative. Change is on the way for Hogwarts. Because of this, total compliance is asked for while these necessary changes progressively take place. There will be no need to question or go against the changes that this initiative will bring for they are for your own benefit and safety."

Change was on the way for Hogwarts indeed.

Announced bright and early on the first day of classes by a loud blaring noise and the Headmaster's gruff voice before the sun had even risen, students and faculty alike were ordered to gather at the Quidditch Pitch. Immediately implementing daily SPECIAL OBLIGATORY RUNNING EXERCISES, known as S.O.R.E.s, it was revealed that every morning all those residing in the castle would be running laps around the pitch before breakfast to build character. Those who skip will lose points, have their forehead burst into boils, and be thrown into detention.

Throughout the day and week, new rules and regulations were blared over the school loudspeakers on the hour every hour: All arriving and departing owl posts are to be checked for contraband and questionable subject matter; With the exception of the morning S.O.R.E., uniforms must be worn at all times outside of the common rooms. Ties are to properly done, shirts tucked in, trousers ironed, and shoes clean; Zero tolerance is in effect for an attitude of defiance; All students are to report to the Great Hall for super at 5 PM and remain inside the castle unless accompanied by a professor; All students are to report to their common room at 9 PM for curfew, and no talking after lights out at 10 PM; No public displays of affection are allowed – not even hand-holding. Those who are caught breaking any of the school rules will lose points and will be put in detention - all of which are labour-intensive punishments and no magic is allowed and supervised by the Headmaster or the professors he personally hired. Prefects were given the power to take and only take points while being gifted black journals that were directly in contact with the Headmaster in effort to maintain the regime's firm hand.

Scrimgeour was quick to strike, firing Muggle Studies professor and Ravenclaw Head of House Kaysha Stewart after her dismal performance during her lessons at the beginning of term, with her replacement, Rafferty Ainsworth, arriving alongside the letter of dismissal. More rules were added to the list blared on the hour every hour as well: Upon arrival to class, all students are to remain standing, without speaking, until the lesson begins as a sign of respect; If you see suspicious activity or anyone breaking the school rules, you are required to report it immediately; Weekend trips to Hogsmeade have been cancelled until further notice; Removal of food and drink from the Great Hall and Kitchen is prohibited. Food and beverages are allowed only in these designated areas. Water is the only exception; When lock-down is called, you are to stop whatever it is you are doing and go directly to your common room; No contraband items are permitted. See the bulletin board on the ground floor for a complete list of forbidden items. Astronomy professor and Slytherin Head of House Kalen Kennedy was fired on the spot after being reported for having hot chocolate in his lesson on the ground and soon after Care of Magical Creatures professor Tristan Wayland got himself fired when Kennedy's replacement Gustave Le Roux provoked him to attack in the Great Hall.

Disturbed by the developments at Hogwarts, remaining professors hired by Regina Hawthorne who were not in support of the methods of the Headmaster and his new staff therefore gathered in secret in the bistro in the Charms corridor. Knowing their every move was being watched and that their position was on the line if they defied Scrimgeour outwardly, seeing as Scrimgeour had the Board wrapped around his finger, a letter written in code was sent out, disguised as an order for Scrivenshaft's in Hogsmeade with the errors spelling out "Regina, help us please....”

Eventually, there was a response with golden coins for each of the professors with a Protean Charm cast upon them.

Somehow Charms professor and Gryffindor Head of House Gaston Marchand was able to convince Scrimgeour about allowing a Hogsmeade weekend. The Hogsmeade weekend finally arrived in March. Regina and those that had been fired by Scrimgeour were also in attendance, though were disguised as teenagers thanks to a few plucked hairs from unknown muggle children. Their plan was simple: they would drink Polyjuice Potion, mingle in with the crowd, and sneak into the castle with the rest of the students with the goal of encouraging students to document everything that was happening so that their accounts could be collected and sent off to the right people to end Scrimgeour's reign. The Polyjuiced 'students' put their plan into action, first acclimating into daily school life and starting to gain the trust of students so they could be roped into their cause – all without revealing their identities.

Fed up with the dress code and other rules, a secret student meeting was held in the Room of Requirement by students, infiltrated by the Polyjuice'd ex-staff members, where a plan was concocted: they needed to document what was happening by any means necessary and deliver the evidence to the proper authorities. When April changed to May, all of the evidence left the school by means of the Whomping Willow passage and in the hands of Regina Hawthorne in her teenage disguise by aid of Ancient Runes professor Katrina Sabra. The other Polyjuiced professors remained to keep an eye on things and make sure no one suspected that anything was going on and to ensure the students stay safe...though this did not go according to plan. Seeing the unrest and uprisings initiated by some of these Polyjuiced professors, Scrimgeour and those whom he had hired responded to all the troublemakers as they saw fit ... which got out of hand. New Care of Magical Creatures professor Aleksandur Petrov tortured the creatures dwelling in the barns on the grounds as well as several students outside of his hut and Ainsworth assaulted students in the Great Hall with Stinging Hexes, just to name a few. Scrimgeour seemed willing to turn a blind eye to these, leaving his hired staff with nothing more than a firm warning

Until the End-of-Term feast, that is. Strutting into the Great Hall Regina Hawthorne made her triumphant return to Howarts with her own letter of dismissal for Scrimgeour and his lackies. The professors hidden among the students (Kennedy, Wayland, and Stewart) also had their identities revealed as the Polyjuice Potion wore off and they, along with Hawthorne, ascended the staff dais to reclaim their positions.

Out with the old and in with the new. Even Diagon Alley seemed to be in the mood to celebrate with the return of the Worple and Warmsley Magical Travelling Carnival. Newly appointed headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Malachi Trent, sent the house elves into the Alley to collect supplies and replenish the storerooms of the castle as the new caretakers...save for one. Toddles, the youngest of the elves and adopted by Nimma back in 2075, could not quite keep his duties straight and spent his initial galleons in the Magical Menagerie on a hamster and the finest of cages for it. His itch for a pet only slightly scratched, Toddles became further distracted from his duties in seeking a companion for Cheeksies the hamster when he happened upon the mysterious Tattooed Man. In possession of a small adorable and pleasantly pink creature, the Tattooed Man was all too willing to sell the creature to Toddles as it was spooking all the other creatures of the carnival. The instructions were simple: keep the creature in its cage and do not under any circumstances ever feed it.

If only Toddles had listened.

Diligent in his care of his new pets, to the detriment of the Hogwarts budget, Toddles had ignored the man’s warning and taken the creature (affectionately called Fluffsies) out of its cage for some cuddles. That was all it took. Fluffsies escaped and made its way up to the Great Hall where it began making contact with students and wooing them with its big endearing gaze. In a panic, Toddles began scouring the Great Hall for his precious Fluffsies and entirely disrupted students who sat at their house tables. Both Fluffsies and Toddles never reunited this night, but Fluffsies did find affectionate caresses from Chloe Kettleburn, Charlie Smedley, Matthew Flory, and Sterling Calrissian before disappearing from the feast entirely.

Classes began, quidditch trials were underway, and runaway Fluffsies was turning Hogwarts into its own personal playground and never staying in one place for too long and consuming souvenirs along the way. Literally. Phials from the potions storeroom, brushes from the art classroom, books from the library, robes belonging to Professor Wishart, a care package from home for the headmaster, and the most heinous of them all...toilet paper from the boy’s loo. A bottomless stomach is not the only thing Fluffsies came equipped with either. Unbeknownst to all, each time Fluffsies ate, Fluffsies multiplied. Each time one of these Fluffsies duplicated ate...it too multiplied! Meanwhile, those who had come in contact with the little pink creature contracted a curious itch and subtle increases in hair growth and thickness.

Fluffsies and all the Fluffsies Jrs. continued to wreak havoc on the castle and among the casualties of their appetites were the hour glasses and all the house gems, the pear portrait one needed to tickle to enter the kitchens, and even Cheeksies the hamster. More students came in contact with the creature(s) - Torii Stark, Mark Gunter, Harri Ainsworth, Patrick Dooley, and Derfael Ashbyrry-Hawthorne - and began showing symptoms of itching while those who had come in contact previously were showing more dramatic changes...and embarrassing hair growth that had nothing to do with puberty.

While textbooks, telescopes, bulletin boards, and suits of armour disappearing was a bit of a nuisance and perplexing to the Hogwarts residents it was not the worst of things. The discovery of the disappearance of Ambrosia the abraxan by the Head Girl and Head Boy, however, was and it would later be concluded that one of these pink fluffy creatures was to blame. Even more students (Trinetta Gladin and Stella Starson) came in contact with the creatures and the symptoms of those before escalating even further - sprouting patches of thick hair all over their bodies, itching as though they had been dosed in itching powder, and gnawing on things that ought not to be gnawed on. Eventually a horde of Fluffsies took up residence in Professor Dolly Dopple’s office due to her feeding them out of the goodness of her heart. The ever well intended Professor Dopple would find her charming personality to be her undoing, however, as one of the creatures took a bit too much of a liking to her and swallowed her up whole.

An emergency meeting was then called by the headmaster in the courtyard for all. Even Toddles made his appearance, hollering about his beloved Fluffsies and believing that this meeting was called because his Fluffsies had finally been found. Emotions high, tension rose between Professors Alice O'Hara and Tristan Wayland when the History of Magic professor proclaimed that the mutants must all be exterminated and Toddles receive capital punishment for his ignorant involvement. In the peak of the confrontations, Dolly Dopple herself appeared in her new spectral form...and completely oblivious to the fact that she was, in fact, a ghost. Headmaster Trent swiftly dealt with the bickering professors and instructed that all return to their common rooms to seek out any of the pink creatures that may be hiding there. The final goal to be to gather all the creatures together and safely remove them from the castle. With some vital information shared from a blubbering Toddles, the headmaster sent word to Charles Hollingberry, the Minister for Magic, for assistance in dealing with the growing horde and danger at the school.

Under the Minister’s instruction, the Department for the Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures and the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, lead by department heads James Draper and Eliora Dodderidge, arrived with a small team to assist with the search and ‘rescue’ of all the pink fluffy creatures from the castle...but not until after the house tables too had fallen victim to the horde of pink. Meanwhile, back in the Ministry, the Department of Mysteries teamed up with the PART unit from Accidents and Catastrophes to analyze DNA samples provided by all those infected students (as collected by the headmaster in his office after the emergency meeting) to find a cure to reverse the effects from touching the creatures. All creatures accounted for and clean up in progress (along with replacing those items that had previously been eaten by all the Fluffsies), Hogwarts managed to survive the pinkocalypse mostly unscathed.

Sorry, Dopple.

FACE YOUR FEARS

Summer seemed to end in a flash and soon professors and students alike found themselves back amongst Hogwarts hallowed halls with a noticeable absence of pink compared to last term. The term began with its traditional start-of-term feast in which Headmaster Trent reminded everyone to be wary of anything pink and introduced the new faculty joining Hogwarts this term: Carmine Beryl (Healer & Ancient Runes), Ayana Sissay (Arithmancy), Simran Sandhu (Astronomy), Grant Cornish (Care of Magical Creatures), Piers Fuller-Thompson (Charms & Groundskeeper), Thereos (a Forbidden Forest resident centaur aiding with Divination), Colin Mackenzie (Flying Instructor & Quidditch Official), and Mitchell Barlow (Transfiguration). While all seemed to be as it should, there was something in the air, thick on the tongues of the centaur and the wings of owls, but it would take time for residents of Hogwarts to see what was coming, for it was quiet, calm and warm within the castle grounds. Quaffles flew through the air, romance beckoned, spells were cast and throughout it, all the student body began to sink into the belief that this year might be among the first where absolutely nothing happened.

Though was anyone really that naive? Magic begot magic, after all.

A shift began in late October when threstrals of the Forbidden Forest were found in the barns and pastures. It was only after much prodding and reassurance of students from Professor Piers Fuller-Thompson that Slytherin Kaiser, Gryffidor Ellie Smethwyck, and Ravenclaw Indigo Rousseau allowed themselves to be shooed off with the reassurance that their Care of Magical Creatures professor would be notified and handle the situation accordingly.

Only, this was just the beginning of what would soon become a mass exodus of creatures from the Forbidden Forest. Unicorns appeared grazing along the meadows near the Black Lake while casting nervous glances back towards the Forest: a scene whose tension only thickened thanks to the ominous (not to mention confusing) words of Thereos. Bowtruckles flooded to the trees along the pathways where they rustled the leaves in their agitation - something that had been seen a little earlier in the term during Thereos Divination lesson in the Forbidden Forest where the bowtruckles had uncharacteristically attacked the class. Buzzards, falcons, kestrels, and jobberknoll flocked to the owlery for safety. Even the colony of acromantula fled and their thick eight-legged forms trampled the flowers of the butterfly garden, risking life and limb (literally, one was smashed by its branches) in their retreat along the path marked by the Whomping Willow. Their message was clear: "Away from danger! Danger in the mist!"

And then...it came.

First slowly creeping its way across the Hogwarts grounds and engulfing everything in its path, the mist pushed even the centaurs from their home within the forest with a foreboding message: Great terrors rest in the mist and certain doom upon those who enter it. Slytherins Nina Castillo and Eiji Rasting, Ravenclaw Trinetta Gladin, Hufflepuff Eniola Abara, and History of Magic professor Alice O’Hara found themselves trapped by the mist within the boathouse. Their screams of terror fell on the ears of the centaur Thereos, who was able to save them from whatever doom lay within.

Along the Black Lake, Hufflepuff prefect Sterling Calrissan and Hufflepuff Regina Amstern too were trapped by the mysterious and bone chilling mist until the arrival of Professor Cornish who was able to lead them to safety. The pathways too was eventually blanketed overcome by the thick menacing grey, wreaking havoc on Professor Fuller-Thompson’s Health and Wellness Club meeting where Ravenclaws Analiese Anderson and Indigo Rousseau and Chloe McCarthy, Slytherin prefect Vita Mallari, Slytherins Eloise Fairfield and Gunnar McCarthy, Gryffindors Cassidy Burke all battled their worst fears.

With nothing but sheer luck and through the guidance of both Professor Fuller-Thompson and Headmaster Trent, were all were able to retreat back to the castle and to safety. A howler from Minister for Magic, Charles Hollingberry, soon arrived for the headmaster who already was devising a plan to keep the remaininder of the student body safe, even as the mist began to creep inside of the castle itself.

Calling for an emergency meeting in the Dueling Arena, Headmaster Tate kept things simple and straightforward: with the mist overtaking all of Hogwarts’ grounds, were all to remain indoors. Under absolutely no circumstances were any to venture outside. Toddles the house elf interrupted this meeting, wailing about the return of his Fluffsies (the mysterious pink mutant creature from last year) returning with spike-adorned whisks.

Knowledge that the kitchens and both Slytherin and Hufflepuff common rooms had remained impervious to the mist and the house elves could still access them with their magic was a relief. The bad news was that on top of the notification that two students had gone missing, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw would be sharing a dorm space … as would Slytherin and Gryffindor. There was also the fact that the lower levels were no longer accessible thanks to the mist’s encroachment.

Hearing about the situation at Hogwarts, the Ministry of Magic was quick to respond and sent a team from the Department of Environmental Regulation and Control (lead by department head Olly Emmons-Clarke) to Hogwarts to investigate the situation. The mist proved to be far more daunting an obstacle than originally anticipated and the team was forced to retreat. However, the team was able to deduce that the phenomenon that had overtaken Hogwarts was no weather phenomenon but of an entirely different kettle of fish altogether. Small victories.

The mist continued to creep and crawl its way upwards through Hogwarts and soon Headmaster Trent was announcing an evacuation of the castle to Hogsmeade where students would be put up in the Three Broomsticks and continue their studies wherever the Hogsmeade shopkeepers could provide. After a tense evacuation effort, during which the mist almost seemed to be chasing the fleeing Hogwartians, as though sentient, all as they fled.

In the end, no one else was lost to the mist and term concluded with a somber end-of-term feast at the Three Broomsticks. The fate of Hogwarts was left shrouded in a hazy grey as the Hogwarts Express pulled away from Hogsmeade station for the official start of the summer holiday.

Goodbye Hogwarts...for good? You will be mist.

In Memoriam

We'd like to pause to honor two of our very own, who are no longer with us. We ask everyone reading this to please take a moment of silence in memory of Kamryn Keighley and Thadius Potter who both lost their lives to the mist this past term.

...try not to get burned, or worse, evicted

With the fate of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry shrouded in MISTery, arrangements were made to temporarily relocate to L'Académie de Magie Beauxbâtons until further notice as the Ministry of Magic continued its efforts to discover the source of the mist and recover the castle. Arriving in France a day after the Beauxbatons students on September 2nd by abraxan drawn carriage, it was revealed at the start-of-term feast by Headmaster Trent that each house (save for Slytherin who were awarded a broom closet due to its Head of House pulling the shortest straw) would be sharing quarters with one of the three Beauxbatons’ houses: Gryffindor with Papillionlisse, Ravenclaw with Ombrelune, and Hufflepuff with Bellefeuille. Robust first year shenanigans aside, the term began rather quietly...though these misbehaviors were more than enough to give Beauxbaton’s Headmistress, Giselle Demarais, the impression that her school’s visitors ruined everything they touched. A handful of Beauxbatons students (Aesha Amin, Eugenia Bonnair, Lars Moreau, Luc Vayssière, Roch Vayssière) assembled on the reception foyer speaking in hushed whispers. There was talk of sneaking something into the Palace of Beauxbatons without being caught while Professor Mathys de Nostredame (the Beauxbatons Care of Magical Creatures professor who would be doubling up this term to teach Hogwarts’ students as well) fretted over the oddly hostile nature of the gargoyles that protected the palace.

As part of a wider wizarding educational initiative, the French school would be implementing a new Health and Wellness program and an attempt to "go green" as seen with the re-opening of their now renovated rose garden. Demarais, keen to show off her prized roses, organized a light yoga and meditation session as a means of building kinship and integrating Hogwarts students into their prestigious school. Demarais’ announcement of no formal quidditch for the term was a crushing blow to many, but redemption came with the promise of a Valentine’s Ball later on in the term - contingent on all being on their best behavior and meeting her superior standards. A firm warning for Hogwarts. But, it was not they who were the first to cast stones in the growing tensions between the two student bodies. It was the very group of Beauxbatons students seen gathered together at the start-of-term feast. Unbeknownst to all but the culprits who covered their tracks by drinking as well, potion that caused the drinker to sprout feathers and quack like a duck was slipped into the provided flavored waters. Blame was thrust upon the Hogwarts students and a quacking good time was had by none...save for Luc Vayssière who seemed all too pleased they had gotten away with it.

Early on in the term, a misfired Loricatus spell by Slytherin first year Claudine Blaze during a Care of Magical Creatures lesson held in the rose garden sent Demarais on the warpath against Hogwarts. The Beauxbatons gargoyles grew hostile towards these foreign students. Gryffindor first year, Bernadette Grantham, and Ravenclaw third year, Analiese Anderson, found themselves suspended for raising their wands against the Headmistress while Gryffindor first year, Cecelia Summers, (who had soaked Demarais accidentally while trying to put out the flames) and Blaze were banned from stepping foot in the rose garden for the remainder of the term.

Double booked classrooms and cramped sleeping quarters were the new norm, but soon these were not the only inconveniences plaguing the Palace of Beauxbatons’ residents. Torn books, broken telescopes, and random footprints were discovered in the astronomy dome, the Ombrelune Common Room found its luxurious curtains and furniture marred and ransacked, the kitchens themselves were set ablaze. Remnants of claw marks and soot the only common denominators among these seemingly random acts of vandalization only fueled the growing tensions within the overpopulated palace.

Things all came to a head in the weeks preceding the highly anticipated Valentine’s Ball when all the decorations for the event were discovered to be torn apart, torched, and rendered utterly unuseable. Discovered at the scene of the crime by none other than Demarais herself were Ravenclaw first years Phoebe James and Ilya Belrose and Slytherin fifth year Eiji Rasting. Condemned on the spot by the Beauxbatons Headmistress who had had ENOUGH, her injustice was only inflamed by Beauxbatons students Aesha Amin, Eugenia Bonnair, Lars Moreau, and Luc Vayssière spreading lies to further incriminate the Hogwarts students. Despite efforts by Trent and Hogwarts Potion Master, Professor Ignatius Noble, all were dragged to the Inquisitorial Hall to stand trial for their crimes while additional summons were also made. Judge and jury already decided, those to stand trial against a hostile court were: Ravenclaw first years Phoebe James and Ilya Belrose; Ravenclaw fifth years Trinetta Gladin, Ewan Jones, and Missa Renaldi; and Slytherin fifth year Eiji Rasting; sixth year Slyterin Kaiser; first year Gryffindors Cecellia Summers and Bernadette Grantham; fourth year Gryffindor Lucas Dakest.

Despite honest testimony from each of the Hogwarts students with supporting evidence and defensive strategy provided by Noble, Demarais found Hogwarts guilty and immediately banished them from the premises. No sooner had her sentence passed did de Nostredame come bursting into the Inquisitorial Hall with further evidence to cast doubt on the Hogwarts students, or any student, from being the ones behind the decorations massacre. It was proclaimed to be the work of a fire-breathing creature. The proof was in the pudding as soon fire licked the grounds and Demarais found her precious roses on fire for the second time this term. In the heat of the moment, Demarais pleaded with Trent and his students to help save her roses (and school) and soon all were flocking to the rose garden to battle the flames and the truth swooping in on leathery wings - a baby dragon.

Having snuck a dragon egg into the castle at the start of term, the group of five Beauxbaton students had created their own dragon family unit and were raising the creature in secret. Now on the cusp of true adolescence, the dragon had become too much for them to handle and had broken free of its restraints. It had been doing so for some time now with each incident escalating into something more and more destructive. With a harness stolen from de Nostredame’s classroom, the Beauxbaton’s students successfully calmed their ‘child’ and harnessed the dragon so no further destruction could be had and the baby dragon taken to a dragon sanctuary where it belonged. With that, Demarais revoked her earlier sentence and Hogwarts was allowed to stay for the remainder of the term.

And, thankfully, the remainder of the term was all that would be needed.

The end-of-term feast became a lavish event for Hogwarts who were granted the authority to host it as they saw fit and held a ball for its students. During Trent’s speech it was announced that the efforts of the Ministry had been successful and that they would be returning to Hogwarts - now mist and boggart free!

Au revoir, Beauxbatons!

A Portrait of Hogwarts in Chaos

The day had arrived that everyone had been waiting for - Hogwarts was back and open for students once again! Predictably, since the castle had been abandoned for the past year, there was quite a lot of clean up that needed to be done. Common rooms were covered in cobwebs, layers of dust had settled on top of the furniture, and the castle was in need of some good old fashions TLC. Staff members - including newest additions Gus Rainwater, Gabriela Recard, Carwyn Eris and Mathys de Nostredame (yes, THAT Nostredame from Beauxbatons) - gathered up the students in various activities to help clean up their beloved Hogwarts. After the chaos at Beauxbatons the term before, the students stepped up to the plate and put in some elbow grease to get their castle looking good as new in just a few weeks.

However, it became clear very early on in the term that Hogwarts was suffering from a bit more than just a couple of dirty classrooms. The magic holding the portraits inside their frames had come undone, allowing some portraits to actually leave their paintings - and in some extreme cases, caused students to end up TRAPPED inside the frames! The Fat Lady accidentally swapped places with Stella Starson while trying to give a singing lesson, and Blake Ryan found himself stuck in the portrait of one particularly hormonal teenage portrait named Roberta. Whatever was going on, the swaps were all resolved within a few moments - many people chalked them up to weird accidents, but no real harm was done. Unfortunately for the staff and students, the Fat Lady and Roberta weren't the only ones who figured out they could leave their portraits...

The four Hogwarts founders - Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Godric Gryffindor - were all spotted roaming around the castle. At first, their presence shocked and amazed everyone who came across them. In fact, many staff and students thought it was a once in a lifetime opportunity - who else had the chance to say they met their house founder? At first, they simply wandered the castle, catching up on the times, and they remained relatively harmless as they got to know the students in their houses.

As the founders lingered in the castle, it soon became clear that they weren't just there to hand out cupcakes and host impromptu duels (looking at you, Gryffindor). Rowena Ravenclaw interrupted a History of Magic class to give her thoughts on the matter and academia in the castle as a whole, and Salazar Slytherin began to question many of the Slytherin students, like Head Boy Gunnar McCarthy, on their blood status in a very accusatory sort of way. Gryffindor and Slytherin actually had the nerve to reignite their old rivalry in the middle of one of Trent's dueling club lessons, showing that they had little respect for the man currently in charge of their beloved school.

What were these founders planning? They began to act as if they owned the place, not seeming to care that hundreds of years had passed since their mortal selves had roamed the halls. One thing was also extremely clear - they were NOT planning on returning to their portraits any time soon.

It was clear what the students and staff had to do at this point - they needed to figure out a way to get the founders back into the portraits, and they needed to do so fast! The intentions of the founders were finally made known as Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin attempted to drive Professor Nostredame and Professor Fuller-Thompson from their respective huts on the grounds, announcing their intentions to take over the castle from the staff and Trent. Their goal was to get rid of Trent and the rest of the staff members and bring Hogwarts back to the "standards" they had laid out when they first founded the school. After a violent confrontation with Gryffindor, Nostredame was wounded by Godric's sword and, with the help of Healer Recard, was transported to St. Mungos for further care.

With the founders practically declaring war on the castle, the hunt was on to figure out how to get them back in their portraits. Perhaps more importantly - how to KEEP them in there once the job had been done! Trent called for an emergency meeting in the courtyard and a plan was put in to place. Three groups, led by Trent, Recard and Noble, would set up and try to find the founders, eventually leading them back into their portraits. As each of the three groups searched the areas they had been assigned, a signal was being broadcast amongst the other portraits in the castle. The empty frames that had once contained the founders had been located in the basement of the castle! The portraits ran through the castle, sounding the alarm, and everyone headed towards the basement for the final showdown.

Naturally, the founders were not going to go down without a fight. Hufflepuff attempted to distract with cupcakes, and Gryffindor and Slytherin attempted to use mind games to manipulate Trent and the others to stand down. Eventually, the Gryffindor founder even challenged the Headmaster to a duel in an attempt to take over the school once and for all. When the Headmaster threatened to cast the portraits on fire, that was all the fuel no pun intended Slytherin needed - he tackled Gryffindor to the ground, for reasons not QUITE clear (did he want to be the first to the portrait, or was he genuinely concerned that Godric would REALLY duel Trent?) and sprinted to his frame. Gryffindor grabbed his robes and ran towards HIS frame instead, turning it into a race, and the remaining two founders followed in suit. Once again, the rivalry between Godric and Salazar had been the undoing of the founder's plans, but the school was safe from their meddling once again!

Impenetrable charms were placed on all the portraits so they could no longer leave their frames whenever they pleased. Hogwarts was finally repaired from the damage of the mist, and term was coming to a close quickly. Nostredame, while he recovered from his wounds, would not be returning (can you blame him?) and the school said goodbye to the beloved Professor Simran at the End of Term feast as well. Students boarded the Hogwarts Express and went home to have relaxing summers, hoping that the next term at Hogwarts would be a little more calm and less eventful for once

Hello from the other side...

The year is 2101 and a new Term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has begun. The school: now returned to its former glory after all the cobwebs and dust removed and all the Portraits with their occupancies back to where they safely belonged (permanently) was once again ready to accept students and staff alike. Our leader Professor Trent, along with our returning teachers and a new Care of Magical Creatures face Professor Williamson could only hope for a normal and quiet year at Hogwarts. But has there truly ever been such a thing for this school?

As the year began Professor Schmoe had students participating in ‘jazzercise’ and ‘aerobics’ out by the Great Lake. It was right then, that there were the first signs that something was amiss. The sky flashed several different colors in what appeared to be an awesome light show display put on by Professor Schmoe himself, but it was soon discovered that this was NOT the case. Those who attended a Slytherin/Gryffindor party at the Whomping Willow may have also noticed the skies. After this, the sky continued to change to colors, and it was no longer just flashes, but remained ominous. Not to mention the large flock of crows that soared through the sky. It was raining birds more than anything else.

The bizarre weather would soon attract the attention of one reporter and weatherman by the name of Sunny Raine, who was not exactly an invited guest at Hogwarts. But one reporter snooping for the story of a lifetime, was the least of Hogwart's worries. Before long, what can only be described as magical glitches, were happening all over Hogwarts. It started as magic power surges and then an almost complete loss of magic in classrooms. The staff could make neither heads nor tails of this.

And then one day, as though a switch had been flipped, the castle was obviously different. Upon entering the Great Hall there appeared to be several, not quite ghosts, but holograms perhaps? They did not appear to be sinister, they paid no mind to the students at all, in fact, if they tried to touch them, you would just end up going through them. If only they stayed ghost like, but it was not long before they began to solidify, and Hogwarts begins to change still further. Decorations and furniture took on the look from another century, and the outside grounds began to disappear altogether. What is left or sent outside did not return, which meant that Sunny Raine though originally uninvited was now a long-term guest of the school. Hogwarts was a magical dead zone. But interestingly the Hogwarts ghosts had been able to interact with the figures … what could this possibly mean?

As the year went forward students were stuck at Hogwarts for the Holidays and there were no owls coming or going, Hogwarts had been cut off from the outside world. And it was not just objects that were fading. The Professors and students noticed that they themselves started to fade. Memory loss was becoming a huge problem, students could not remember what class they had next or if they had done their homework. Teachers reaching out for chalk would find they were unable to grasp it. Something needed to be done, and the underground chamber seemed to be the best place to start. Sunny Raine taking it upon himself to head the front and with the help of some students such as Isla Bellchant and Bernadette Grantham, attempted a spell with no success.

It was at that point; a voice was heard calling out…. Someone who was searching for us or were we searching for them? Near a stack of barrels sixth year Cole Vance and third year Claudine Blaze were left wondering what to do with this disembodied voice, while Professor Kitridge our Divination professor came to the rescue in the attempt to help with communication. She called the students to the Spirt room to performed a séance. Fiona Jenovick, Heathcliff Jones, and many others answered the call, where connection was finally made with Crystal Divine a divination professor form nearly 200 years ago who pointed them in the right direction.

After their encounter with Professor Divine it became clear that the past and present were fluid around Hogwarts, uncertainty rained down from every corner. After some extensive research and a piece of parchment that was found in the tower, which indicated the appropriate spell that was needed. The adventure continued on the seventh floor where Sunny Raine, Phoebe James, Avalon Sinclair, the Headmaster and several other students and professors casted the right spell (Tempore Tempestatis Fixus) in unison to make the magic as strong as they could. With not a second to spare and by a miracle the rumbling around Hogwarts and the feeling of sinking had stopped. Thank Merlin the spell had worked! And the school and all its inhabitants had returned to the present day.

With magic able working again, and communication with the outside world restored, there was an influx of owls from concerned parents to attend to, but thankfully Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry appeared to have survived yet another eventful term. Leaving the question once again, will there ever be a quiet year at Hogwarts?

"WHERE IS IT?!" - SLYVESTER HARGRAVES

Another new year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has officially begun. With Headmaster Trent still at the helm of the school and new professor June Flamsteed as head of Herbology.

But if one has learned anything through the years of Hogwarts was that the castle does not remain quiet for long. Between all the inhabitants of the school moving about something was bound to change. And the students to make said change was none other than Claudine Blaze and Avalon Sinclair who appeared to have found some buried treasure on the pathways. But what could this box possibly contain, besides the strange language written upon it. With the help of several other students who arrived upon the mysterious chest an attempt was made to open it. Kale Trent a fourth year mustarded the courage and with only a slight protest it opened. Upon opening the runes on the front began to glow and flash red, a ghostly head flew through Kale and Emmerson Cambridge, but nothing too dangerous seemed to have happened to them, and the chest revealed a glorious heap of gold and other prized possessions. The students present may be cursed (who knows) but they were RICH! Too bad Professors Schmoe, Flamsteed, and Recard had to show up to ruin in the party. And with the help of adult supervision – the Headmaster was alerted.

Once the Headmaster had been notified, Gringotts goblins were called in to look at the chest for further inspection. Was it just a trick of the eye (or flashing red light of the chest), but did the Headmaster seem off? No time to focus on that just yet. Soon thereafter Korpsit the goblin arrived, deeming the chest to be real, despite appearing to be afraid of it and even more so once it was realized the chest had already been opened, and took off like a banshee once the lid was again lifted. Clearly the goblin knew more than he was letting on.

But pounds of gold that was intended to be used for castle renovations (such as a pool) were not the only thing happening at Hogwarts. In the third-floor corridor an ominous presence could be felt (was this déjà vu from last term?). Something or someone was watching you. Something that Cecelia Summers, Ashley Fox, and several other students were all too in tuned with. And then suddenly it was pulling them in different directions and shoving them into walls, and toward open windows. Dear Merlin someone help!!!!!!!! Meanwhile across the castle the trophy room had become a mess. What could possibly be terrorizing the school? With the help of students such as Mamie Turov and Violet Blackthorne the room was put back together in no time – maybe they were all just over thinking things. Or maybe they weren’t? Since even the ghosts of the castle seemed to think something was amiss. They had assembled in the spirit room for a meeting, well the spirits and Joshua Miller. It was clear for that meeting that some kind of force was upon the castle. The ghosts warned the castle that the renovations were a bad idea and a strange screeching noise is heard one night. It echoes throughout the castle.

That’s when the force proved to be none other than Slyvester Hargraves a ghost himself. Who appeared to the Hogwarts residents demanding to have his treasure back! Bernadette Grantham seemed to be mixed in this untimely encounter. When none of the students nor the Headmaster (who still appeared to be ‘off’) were able to produce said treasure the Ghost began making threats and declared that Hogwarts would suffer the consequences. One of the consequences appeared shortly after in the way of the food all going bad. Mold, mold everything where and not a drop to eat. Stone golems invaded the castle and appeared to be searching for something, unleashing even more destruction. And then the students all began to behave more abnormally. Phoebe James began to shriek with rage in a Divination lesson, but then was herself again within minutes. Several others did similar things throughout the castle. An earthquake and a hail storm were set upon the school. And finally, what could be described as nothing less than a mob of students that included Carsyn and Irithel, set the Forbidden Forest on Fire – all screaming and demanding the treasure be return. What had Slvester Hargraves done?!

The professors had managed to send word to the goblins to have the chest of gold returned, but several things are repossessed in order to appease the spirits. And when the Headmaster finally appeared, it seemed like a deal was to be made. The destruction of Hogwarts would stop in exchange for the treasure chest. However, the ghost took too long to decide and Headmaster Trent made the treasure disappear, and in doing so, the hold the ghost had on the students faded along with his presence and suddenly with a brilliant and blinding flash of light Slvester Hargraves was gone and the castle was no longer under siege.

And just like that another school term had ended for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Headmaster Trent, having tumbled in and out of his own fireplace early on in the term (probably just using the floo network, right???) and suffering from headaches, gave a short and not so sweet speech and sent the students home the following morning, giving them a whole summer to try and forget about this year’s past events.

The Third Wizarding War

The first of September 2103 began as any other start of term day for the young witches and wizards attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Their trunks were loaded onto the Hogwarts Express, they said goodbye to their families on Platform 9¾, the trolley lady pushed her wares up and down the train corridor, and the first years glided across the Black Lake towards the castle in eager anticipation of their Sorting. Unbeknownst to all, the “headmaster” was scouring the Forbidden Forest looking for one final piece to an important mission: the Resurrection Stone. With the Stone found and the remaining hallows in the hands of his most trusted followers who had laid a stronghold at the Ministry of Magic, he returned to the castle ready to bring not only Hogwarts but the entire wizarding world to its knees… for the Greater Good

Students were given a rude awakening as soon as they arrived at school. At the start-of-term feast, some were curious to find that Headmaster Trent's usual seat stood empty on the staff dais, leading to inevitable questions. Before they had the chance to voice these questions to anyone but each other, however, the man himself strode in and took his place, though something seemed a little… off - more 'off' than last term, even. The exact nature of that something quickly became apparent, when Malachi Trent's face melted away - Polyjuice Potion style - to reveal someone very different currently in command of the school, just as a menacing crowd of followers trooped into the Great Hall.

The stranger in Trent's place - and who had clearly been masquerading as the headmaster for some time - introduced himself as Headmaster Rosier, and his organisation as the Neo-Alliance, not hesitating to inform the students that they were all disposable should anyone consider resistance against his takeover of the school. With the students in varying states of shock, fear, and outrage, liable to outbursts, it soon became clear the Neo-Alliance meant business. He revealed that prefects were to be replaced by another group, and all students were instructed to fill in the forms that appeared on the house tables. These forms required students to provide their blood heritage, family details, and their stance on muggle upliftment.

Upon returning to their common rooms, students found their dormitories and belongings ransacked, any and all mirrors confiscated and fireplaces sealed. All communication with the outside world was stopped, surveillance upped, and owls unceremoniously birdnapped. Hogwarts had been turned into a prison.

Matters only became more dire as term got underway. The prefects' replacement turned out to be a revival of the once infamous Inquisitorial Squad - first seen during Dolores Umbridge's reign of Hogwarts - now reinstalled to spy and report on anything the cult deemed a violation under the new regime. More Neo-Alliance followers arrived at Hogwarts, taking up residence around the castle in makeshift living spaces as the school becomes their headquarters. Muggle-borns were singled out for cruel and unfair treatment in lessons and around the school. Even the professors did not escape torment; Muggle Studies professor, Finneas Schmoe, suffered the Cruciatus Curse for attempting to defy the new curriculum, and Professor Cassiopeia Kitridge met the same response.

Lucien Rosier received a visit from his sister, Alphonsine, part of a group of key Neo-Alliance members who had infiltrated the Ministry of Magic. Alphonsine revealed that the Ministry had been successfully brought under Neo-Alliance control, with Minister Hollingberry in the palm of their collective hand. In order to convince parents and the public that all was well at the school, Lucien instructed that a message be sent out by the Minister, and this was swiftly accomplished in a Wizarding Wireless Network broadcast; Minister Hollingberry announced a 'new, rigorous and refined curriculum' which would usher in a new era, and that all communications with the school had been suspended so that students could focus on their studies.

Alphonsine delivered the Cloak of Invisibility to Lucien, along with the Elder Wand, to join with the Resurrection Stone he had recovered in the Forbidden Forest on the night of the feast - all three Deathly Hallows gathered at last. However, Alphonsine also informed her brother that she had had to kill their childhood friend, a key Neo-Alliance member, in order to obtain the wand that he had been ready to keep for himself. Deeply troubled by what this meant, and by the belief of what he would have to do in order to officially win the Elder Wand from his sister, Lucien told Alphonsine they would work it out. She would retain official ownership of the wand, while he kept it in his possession.

The students themselves were not idle. Slytherin fifth year, Nemesis Upstead, appealed directly to Rosier and apparently willingly joined the Neo-Alliance as an extra set of eyes (though this wouldn't be revealed until a fateful Potions lesson several months later). A group of students - Bernadette Grantham, Phoebe James, Aboli Song, Mamie Turov, Bella Connolly, Kale Trent, Kinsay James, and Ivy Grimm - were discovered lingering with intent in a corridor of Hogwarts portraits after a failed attempt to get a message out of the castle (or an impromptu dance party, depending on who you asked) and ordered to take down the majority of the Hogwarts portraits. When some of the group did not immediately obey, Lucien Rosier appeared and ordered the muggle-borns be killed for their defiance, and the others made to watch, but Professor Recard was able to step in and come to their rescue. Evidently not satisfied with the results when Professor Recard took over the punishment of these students, Rosier later revealed to the History of Magic professor the exact whereabouts of the actual headmaster, Malachi Trent: trapped in an enchanted mirror. Rosier made it crystal clear that Recard or any of the staff could be put in their own mirror prisons if it became easier to simply remove them from the equation.

Shortly after the failed attempts at getting help during the disastrous Care of Magical Creatures field trip to the Welsh Dragon Reserve, matters went from bad to worse. Lucien Rosier summoned everyone in the castle (or at least those who had any will to live) to the courtyard in the early hours of the morning. There, he announced that, as a direct result of the attempts made to alert the outside world of the situation at Hogwarts, the majority of the students would be moved to new living quarters - the group consisted of those with anything other than pureblood heritage, reported troublemakers from the field trip, and those who continued to defy or anger Rosier and his Neo-Alliance friends through their own alliances or actions. For his part, Professor Williamson received a dose of the Cruciatus Curse and promptly collapsed, before being dragged off to be locked away with the students.

These new living quarters turned out to be a room, dank and dreary and downright depressing, set deep in the very lowest dungeons of the castle, with guards posted at the door for constant surveillance. None of the occupants were allowed their wands other than for classes, and were separated from what little remained of their peers in the rest of the school, other than for lessons or closely supervised walks around the premises. After being caught trying to slip bags of helpful commodities along to the students being kept in the Room, Professor Varma was subjected to the Cruciatus Curse, along with Ashley Fox, the second year muggle-born student who had agreed to help. It was clear that any resistance was futile; the Inquisitorial Squad had eyes everywhere.

After the events on the field trip and in the courtyard, Rosier informed Nemesis Upstead that it was time to give themselves over properly to the Neo-Alliance and drop the double agent act, or join their siblings and peers in the Room. They chose the former option, and were given a place in the Inquisitorial Squad, with permission to use the Cruciatus Curse if necessary. Not long after came the fateful Potions lesson in which Upstead revealed their status as a member of the Squad and the Neo-Alliance, and four students - Ashley Fox, Moose Stover, Kale Trent, and Minjae Yoon - were apparently vanished into puffs of smoke by Lucien Rosier, in return for their 'disrespect' and defiance when they openly spoke out against them. As a direct result of this lesson, Potions Mistress Professor Varma also joined those housed in the Room.

On the evening of 9th May 2104, an explosion was heard across the grounds. This was the sign the staff had been waiting for; help had arrived. Far to the south of Hogwarts, there had been a rallying cry after a tussle at the Ministry of Magic, and an army set to fight against the Neo-Alliance had arrived at the school to make their stand on the grounds, and fight to reach the imprisoned children. Professors Schmoe, Peralta, and Recard ran straight to the Room, knocking out the guards and freeing the students inside while the rest of the Neo-Alliance followers were busy meeting the army on the grounds. Staff and students alike rushed to the Spare Office on the sixth floor to shelter in a safe place, and soon the Heads of Houses brought their students from the common rooms to join them. Those students old enough to fight were free to join the battle.

The action started at the winged boars, the entrance gates to the school. Those outside of Hogwarts who had heard Minister Hollingberry's Wizarding Wireless Network announcement, calling the wizarding community to take up wands and fight alongside the resurrected Order of the Phoenix against the Neo-Alliance, marched upon the gates. In a concentrated effort, the impromptu army blasted through and gained access to the school, some Neo-Alliance sympathisers slipping in this way at the same time. Ministry workers, determined family and friends of Hogwarts students and staff, the Order of the Phoenix, and the Minister for Magic made up the bulk of the group. Here the battle began, the Neo-Alliance followers flooding out of the school to meet them. Many on the side of the Order broke through and split off to other areas to keep pushing forwards, while others continued to fight by the gates, neutralising as many of the Neo-Alliance as they could. Grae Fairfield and Daisy Swann were both hit by killing curses, one of which was sent by Edward Blaze Jr. Lars Svensson, once a Hogwarts professor, met the same end here. Professor Williamson made his appearance, having arrived from the Room (after evidently taking a detour to rescue some of his creatures first), and helped injured fighters to safety.

On the stone bridge, Ministry infiltrator Simone Krafft led the defence of Neo-Alliance members - fifth year Slytherin Nemesis Upstead among them - against those who had heeded the Minister’s call to arms and sought another point of entry into the castle. Auror Genevieve James, with backup from fellow Hogwarts alumni Caleb Newell and Peneleope Grimm, attempted to arrest Krafft, while sixth year Gryffindor Louise Bones attempted a stealth attack on Upstead, casting Flipendo from behind one of the stone pillars lining the bridge. Bones’ attempts served as a catalyst to an onslaught of spells cast from Krafft and those under her command, as well as retaliation from Upstead in the form of serpent Fiendfyre. Hogwarts Divination professor Cassiopeia Kitridge pleaded with Upstead to return inside and was struck by a Cruciatus Curse cast by one of the Neo-Alliance sympathizers, while Newell was struck down by a Killing Curse from Krafft. Further reinforcements arrived to push back against the Neo-Alliance, including Potions Mistress Shreya Varma. Auror James worked at restraining the Fiendfyre, and Accidents and Catastrophes’ employee Chloe Adara used Bombarda on the stone to amass piles of rubble and hinder Neo-Alliance movements.

In the midst of the flying Unforgivables, Bombardas, and Stunning Spells on the bridge, Upstead used a Levitation Charm on a pile of concentrated debris and slammed it into Krafft, who had just been struck by a Stunning Spell from Varma. The resulting momentum sent Simone Krafft over the side of her bridge, and to certain death; Upstead followed, leaping off the bridge and disappearing from sight. Kurumi Rasting arrived to take Newell’s body from the bridge and, with the assistance of Bones, was able to do so. Former Hogwarts staff, Nessarose Glendower, Paul Myers, and Leobald Kitridge were also among the resistance, successfully restraining several Neo-Alliance members and making it possible for James to finally get the Fiendfyre under control. During the exchange of wandfire and explosions, Cassiopeia Kitridge was struck down by a Killing Curse sent by a Neo-Alliance follower, dying in front of her husband and former colleagues. Seventh year Ravenclaw Valencia Phillips’ Incarcerous spells assisted with those moving bodies of the deceased and unconscious off the bridge and to safety, so that field healers could bring them to the Great Hall. In a last ditch effort to stop Neo-Alliance members’ advancement, Rasting and James manipulated water from the lake below the bridge to summon a massive tidal wave, incapacitating the remaining Neo-Alliance members and neutralising the battle at this location.

Across the grounds, the battle was being waged upon the wooden bridge as well. Former Headmistress, Anastasia Truebridge, arrived at the school to fight, trailing a branch of the army behind her - the army of Neo-Alliance followers, that is. A horde of protective parents, now on the school-side of the bridge, dueled the Neo-Alliance faithful and tried to hold them off. Speaking of hordes, it wasn't long before a secret weapon of the Neo-Alliance was revealed, and a wave of inferi - including missing outspoken Ministry of Magic workers, Milo Jordan and Nero Nykto - staggered onto and across the bridge to join the fray. They grabbed another Order-aligned Josephina Hadley-Nairne, and pulled the former professor over the side of the bridge to her death. This in spite of the best attempts of those such as Professor Aguilar, who arrived after having helped shepherd young Hogwarts students to safety, and then joined the efforts to fight the inferi off with fire. Zoryn Spinnet was caught by the reanimated corpses too, but pulled to safety by Quentin Alvey. Ex-professor Airey Flamsteed, also Order-aligned, took care of most of the inferi with his Anti-Gravity Charm, causing the walking dead to pile together, and burn together.

Spells (and beaters bats) continued to fly on the wooden bridge, and injuries were in abundance. Nemesis Upstead arrived, joining with Truebridge and her Neo-Alliance followers. Within moments, however, a duel had broken out between the two; in a moment of distraction, a spell broke through Truebridge's defences and hit the weakened bridge, causing it to split. Caught in the planks by one of her gorgeous designer heels, Truebridge almost fell with the bridge, but was helped by Nemesis Upstead… helped along to her demise, that is, as Upstead promptly dropped her to her death. Then it was curtains for the wooden bridge, the entire structure collapsing into the ravine below, bringing not only Former Headmistress Anastasia Reina Bunbury Truebridge with it, but Order-aligned Anakin Amstern, half of the Neo-Alliance followers who had been present, and all but a handful of inferi.

The fighters aligned with the Order who broke through to the castle had reclaimed the Great Hall. Here, healers and volunteers, such as former professor Carmine Beryl, triaged and treated the injured brought to them. The deceased who had been recovered lay across one side of the room. It was several hours before the battle spread to the Entrance Hall, threatening the safety of those in the adjacent room; as well as pushing through to find the students and staff, fighters aligned with the Order had the task of defending the Great Hall, and those who required a path to it. The dozen inferi who escaped the carnage of the wooden bridge had shambled their way to the Entrance Hall, continuing their fight against those who threatened the Neo-Alliance. Several Hogwarts students made an appearance in this skirmish. Seventh years Noah Nam, Gryffindor, and Aboli Song, Slytherin, along with sixth year Ravenclaw Avalon Sinclair, all threw themselves into the fray, fighting back vehemently against the Neo-Alliance who had caused them so much suffering all year. Fifth year Gryffindor Bernadette Grantham also made a brief appearance before blinking out of sight, escorted from the scene by a similarly disillusioned student. Former Hogwarts professor, Julian Primeaux, was Obliviated by Neo-Alliance sympathiser Dara Vitvinina, before being hit squarely with a Killing Curse. In the midst of the chaos, the last of the inferi were brought down by the combined efforts and fire spells of those who had fought. The threat of the undead was no more.

Meanwhile, professors Carton, Peralta, Schmoe, and Flamsteed worked tirelessly to usher evacuated students into the spare office; this was intended to be a safe room for students away from the battle raging outside and in the corridors of the castle. Professor Recard was briefly trapped on the Neo-Alliance side of the door while escorting her Slytherin students to the office. The four students - Ashley Fox, Moose Stover, Kale Trent, and Minjae Yoon - who had been seemingly vanished into oblivion by Rosier, reappeared seeming much the worse for wear, after being freed from mirror prisons by an explosion that rocked the headmaster's office. While peers comforted one another, Professor Schmoe took the lead and instructed all capable students to begin putting up protective barriers around the room… and not a moment too soon. Members of the Neo-Alliance had followed the caravan of fleeing Hogwarts students and began taunting those shut inside the office. The scramble to secure the space continued, but soon realisation dawned that they may have only succeeded in trapping themselves. Fifth year Gryffindor Phoebe James was the first to point out the various doors within the space and, with Professor Schmoe’s consent, to attempt to unlock them.

With a small group of students focusing on the doors, the rest continued to fortify the space with protective charms… but to no avail. Neo-Alliance members soon overpowered the enchantments en masse. Flooding into the room, students and staff matched the sinister laughter and maniacal cheers with force and a flourish of spells. Professor Carton, Ivy Grimm, Violet Blackthorne, Claudine Blaze, and Heathcliff Jones conjured birds and sent them pecking at hands and eyes; Christian Culloden’s Everte Statum hindered advances; a Flipendo Maxima cast by Fiona Jenovick incapacitated several attackers; Professor Recard fought her way into the room and through Neo-Alliance members just in time to save Tadhg O'Neill and trapped a few attackers in an impenetrable golden bubble. A desperate Bombarda from the wand of Atlas Flamsteed revealed not an exit but a deep closet. Morgan McCarthy quickly pointed out that this could be used to shelter those unable to fight, such as Margaret Turov, who had been struck by several Stunning Spells before she was revived by a peer. As time wore on, the threat of the Neo-Alliance in this area of the castle was eventually neutralised. Yolanda Luna’s quick casting had Neo-Alliance members puking up slugs, Phoebe James transfigured several into capybaras, and Curtis Fuller bound and gagged a handful with a well placed Incarcerous. By the time the Minister for Magic’s patronus arrived at the spare office, students and professors had achieved the upper hand through fierce battling to protect the future of the wizarding world, and each other.

In the early hours of 10th May 2104, Minister for Magic Charles Hollingberry faced off against Neo-Alliance leader Lucien Rosier, in the courtyard of Hogwarts, the latter still with the Elder Wand in his possession. While Hollingberry attempted to appeal to Rosier’s emotions through empathy, the time for negotiations and audiences was long gone. Rosier struck first with an onslaught of aggressive magic; Hollingberry’s Metamorphmagus abilities shielded him by way of dragonscale at first, but one of Rosier’s spells sliced the Minister across the chest. To buy himself time to cast the necessary protective barrier around the Courtyard, keeping both friend and foe clear of the danger zone, Hollingberry animated the stone eagles and gargoyles surrounding the area to attack the leader of the Neo-Alliance. Rosier made quick work of the stone distractions, which served only to antagonize an already raging spirit, but Hollingberry successfully sealed off the area and unleashed more transfiguration and earth magic spells upon him.

One of Rosier's Severing Charms was deflected back at him, slicing open the cult leader’s pocket and dislodging the mirror in which Malachi Trent had been imprisoned. As the mirror shattered, Trent was released from his enchanted prison, but lay unconscious on the cold stone ground. Rosier, still with the upper hand in the duel, deflected other spells from the soft hearted Minister and struck the man with a Cruciatus Curse, which had Hollingberry briefly incapaciated, writhing in agony. Still, Hollingberry managed to speak; his words, a reminder of Rosier’s sister Alphonsine, was a distraction that favored the Minister and aided him in breaking free of the Unforgivable Cast upon him - that, and the fact that Lucien Rosier was not, in fact, the true master of the Elder Wand.

Surrendering to the truth that there was no reasoning with Rosier, and that his own passive efforts would mean an unfavourable end, Hollingberry rose. The Minister threw his remaining strength into a powerful Knockback Jinx, sending Rosier hurtling backwards against one of the burning pillars of the courtyard, gravely injuring him. The architecture, already weakened from previous battles, and now the duel between Hollingberry and Rosier, lost its remaining integrity from the impact. The pillar gave way in a deadly fall of stone, toppling onto Lucien Rosier, and ending his life. Hollingberry retrieved the Elder Wand from its discarded position in front of the rubble now burying Rosier, and, as the true Master of the Elder Wand, used it to produce three silver opossum patronuses to send out the word. Lucien Rosier was defeated. The war was over. The Minister for Magic then lost consciousness, slumping to the ground alongside the true Hogwarts headmaster.

With the Third Wizarding War over, families were reunited and lessons resumed for the remainder of the term for those who elected to remain at Hogwarts. The End of Term feast, a truly somber soiree, saw not the return of Malachi Trent but the arrival of one Healer Poppy. She had been assigned by the Hogwarts Board of Governors to participate in school life, and would, it seemed, be returning in September to help facilitate community healing at Hogwarts in the coming term. Gryffindor won the House Cup and the term officially came to its end, as all boarded the Hogwarts Express returned home for a much needed summer vacation.

Summer always seemed to fly by so quickly, and yet the summer after the War even more so. Before most were ready, September 1st, 2104 rolled around and it was time for all to board the Hogwarts Express for the new school term. Following the events of the previous year, the excitement usually noted on this monumental day seemed to be lacking in most students; save for the incoming class of first years who were as full of life and anxious for sorting as the years previous.

Thankfully, the new group of first years helped the train ride pass quickly, as it seemed in no time at all, the students had moved from train compartments to carriages and boats before back into the Great Hall, looking far more like it’s former glory. Seats were found, some catch up was completed while students noticed the new faces seated at the Staff Table. This term added Professor Oakey Gunter in the Ancient Runes position, Professor Kamran Kazmi as the flying instructor, and Professor Andromeda Euka stepping into her late sister's role in Divination. Healer Poppy was also a new addition, though the students were not completely surprised to see her as she had been already introduced before summer break: an appointment directly made by the Board of Governor’s and a cause for suspicion among the already distrusting students.

At least there was some good news to be shared, as with the opening speech from the real Headmaster Trent, came the news that Hogwarts would be putting on a school play. This brought some excitement, and gave a positive distraction for those who had been dreading the term ahead as tables began to discuss who would be interested in participating.

The next day classes began, and along with their usual courses there were also new mandatory group therapy sessions started by the lake with Healer Poppy. Most of the students were not at all excited by this prospect, but it was made better for some by the delicious bread Healer Poppy had made and brought for the students and Professor’s to indulge in. All sorts of bread, melon, strawberry, French and banana nut; the offering was met with equal parts delight and suspicion.

Unfortunately, scrumptious bread alone was not enough to save the first therapy session. Healer Poppy kicked off the event with “I feel statements” which led to some students, such as Headmaster’s son Kale Trent of house Gryffindor, and Ashley Fox of Ravenclaw, stating how how they felt it was too late for the adults at the school to act as if they cared and insinuating they felt as if the professor’s of the previous term had betrayed them. This caused great distress for Gemma Kitridge of Hufflepuff and daughter of late Professor Cassiopeia Kitridge who was lost in the battle the previous term as well as Gryffindor Atlas Flamsteed who's father had been imprisoned and tortured by the Neo-Alliance during the war. After emotional outbursts and flying carbs, the first session was concluded early and students were released to carry on with their day.

In an effort to take back the castle, a beautification project was put into effect where students were invited to assist with helping clean up the castle. The first task was to replace all the old candles around the castle with brand new ones. Headmaster Trent, Professor Kazmi and Healer Poppy led the charge. Each took a small group of students to start replacing the candles, beginning in the dungeons, the first floor and on the seventh floor. It was not long after the old were swapped with the new, that suddenly all of the students in the vicinity began to feel an overwhelming sense of zen. The groups grew more relaxed, pausing in their beautification pursuits to snack on some bread. Headmaster Trent even let it slip at this time to his group the play they would be presenting would be Peter Pan, and the Board of Governor’s would be invited at the end of term to see the performance, as well as family members of the students. This got the group even more excited to see the auditions, which were fast approaching. Many students showed, surprising all with just how talented the student body of Hogwarts was. And for those not interested in performing, there were many equally important backstage roles to be filled for all to run smoothly. Some of the most notable auditions had been from Gryffindor heartthrob, Kale Trent, presenting a scene from muggle movie “Singin’ in the Rain” and do a number called ‘Make ‘Em Laugh”, which had been successful along with aweing all in the makeshift auditorium (i.e. Duelling Arena). Phoebe James, another Gryffindor, also did a scene from a muggle movie, completing a monologue by Cher Horokowitz from the Clueless. Another outstanding performance was Ravenclaw’s, Ivy Grimm, who presented a monologue from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer’s Night Dream”. Everyone did amazing, and while there had been nerves for a time in the group of students. Once again, that strange sense of zen came sweeping through to relax them during the audition process.

With auditions completed, soon came the posted results.

The excitement about the play was almost enough to distract students from the fact Healer Poppy had CLOSED the kitchen, with a note pinned to the pear advising students they no longer needed to worry about their nutrition. This went on for some time, before a group of students were craving cookies and could no longer stand being locked out of the kitchens - one of the fan favorites of Hogwarts castle. A group gathered outside, trying to figure out how to go in, when Emmerson Cambridge of Gryffindor proposed using Bombarda to blast a hole in so the students could enter. Professor Euka, a present faculty member, gave the permission for them to attempt this so Cambridge, fellow Gryffindor Adam Luck and Slytherin’s Serena Baltazar-Dos Santos all cast the spell, successfully creating a hole in which students and the present professors could get in.

Once the hole had been created, the group was able to speak with house elves, Beezley and Tinka, who revealed under questioning about the bread that it was entirely safe and nothing had been added to the recipes. What had been tampered with, was the new candles they’d been replacing the old with throughout the castle. Healer Poppy had been using the house elves to help lace these with calming draught, in order to relieve some of the students' stresses. Professor Carton pointed out that while this might have been kind in thought, it was entirely unethical in practice as no one had been aware. Healer Poppy showed at that moment, frantic about students having access to the kitchens while Professors Euka and Carton requested she go with them to visit Headmaster Trent. She avoided this request at the present, however no one can avoid the Headmaster long and Healer Poppy was dismissed from the school grounds.

With the issue of Healer Poppy dealt with, it was nearing show time! The night of the play rolled around and everyone was busy with the last minute preparations. Which was probably the reason Healer Poppy had thought this would be an ideal time to sneak back in with a last ditch effort to make herself the hero of the term. With no Professor backstage and in direct vicinity to point out the validity in the students' concerns that the Healer should not have been there, the Healer was able to release a panic potion causing chaos among performers and audience members alike. There was crashing and falling and fear paralysis all around. It was then that Healer Poppy presented herself and her candles as an option for calm. A young Ravenclaw student, Lisa Nam, approached the Healer and requested help, inching forward to take one of the offered candles. Concerned for her peer, Serena Baltazar-Dos Santos, Slytherin, intercepted and cast the stunning spell at the Healer, sending her down to the ground cold. Thus was the end of Healer Poppy’s attempts at terror and the show could go on! And what a wonderful performance the Hogwarts students had put on, despite the interruptions.

With the play concluded, it was nearing time for the term to end, exams were had and before long the end of term feast was upon them as the school year came to a close. Ravenclaw was pronounced the winner of the house cup, a proper send off for their beloved Head of House who along with Professors Williamson, Varma and Recard would not be returning the next term. Once the last meal was shared, it was time for loading onto the train and making their way back to their families for another summer.

Another summer drew to a close, and once again September 1st rolled around and it was boarding time on the Hogwarts Express for all the new and returning students. An uneventful train ride and a smooth Sorting later and it was already time for the opening speech. Headmaster Trent certainly left everyone nervous with an announcement regarding increase in the presence members of the Board of Governors and a… project? The hall was abuzz for a moment, before everyone was then distracted by the delicious meal prepared by the house elves. After they'd been stuffed full, it was time for bed and off to the races of academia.

The first week of classes was a whirlwind as everyone settled back into the schedule, and before they knew it it was time for the mysterious ‘project’. It was almost a relief to find it was simply beautification project, with fresh plants provided by the Board to place wherever desired around the grounds. Some students questioned at first if this was an attempt to make up for the disaster that was Healer Poppy, the individual who the Board was responsible for introducing the term before, but this suggestion was not taken kindly by the Board and so professors stepped in and split the group into three parties. It was decided to plant the new foliage in the Greenhouses, the pathways, and around the lake.

After the first day of beautification, more plants were added throughout the weeks to continue the beautification. Most of the additions were not notable, except for one particular plant with vines, blooming with beautiful flowers. This particular plant was admired for days, but the more students visited the greenhouses, the more and more apparent it was that while this plant was flourishing, those surrounding seemed to be withering away. Not long after this, the plant also began to… glow? Research began regarding this, but as it was confined to a singular greenhouse it was not too large of a concern.

However, the concerns grew when a gathering of students at the lake’s edge were approached by Sir Bartholomew Henry, with a request for assistance, as the Great Lake’s ecosystem was in danger. Sir Bartholomew Henry advised the plants in the lake were withering away and dying, taking away homes, foods and safety for many of the inhabitants. The students gathered water samples and were off to inform Professor’s Paszek and Professor Kazmi of the warning, figuring the Care of Magical Creatures Professor and Groundskeeper would have ideas on how to best to handle the situation.

Meanwhile at the greenhouse, things just continued to get curiouser and curiouser. A thick, toxic gas began to fill the greenhouse and began to seep outside of it, barring students from getting any closer. Professor Flamsteed managed to cast a charm to lock it in from escaping any further, however the magic only lasted so long before the gas continued to stretch outwards. Around the rest of the school as well, vines began to cover all the surfaces imaginable - covering classrooms and entrapping students as weeks passed. It seemed even with how often Diffindo was cast, the vines just kept growing and growing.

During one particular Herbology lesson, the students were gathered and discussing what they could figure about the vines and the best ways to rid the school of what was quickly become a pest. Atlas Flamsteed mentioned going after the root, while others continued down various other routes. Discussion was interrupted when a scream was heard, and when the class and Professor Flamsteed went to assist, they found the vines attacking Professor Carton. The vines also snatched up Violet Blackthorne of Slytherin, and some of the remaining students and Professor Flamsteed jumped to aid. The vines were fought with Reducio, Glacius, Diffindo… but nothing was working as a permanent solution as it seemed all their efforts did was slow the vines, not stop them.

Once they’d freed the Transfiguration professor and Violet, it was decided to turn Herbology into a field trip into the restricted section of the library, with other students and faculty meeting them there. The intention was to locate a book that could have something about what was plaguing the school, but the library was so large they weren’t sure how they would get anywhere on their own. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack, until one book tumbled from the shelves and landed at the feet of Daniel Yoon. Daniel picked up the book and was then crowded by his peers, each house represented in the clustering of students, as they read the open passage. What they read described a plant called the Pharaoh’s Triumph, a specimen that had the ability to blend in by taking the appearance of any other plant, usually vined, and slowly suck the life from the flora around it as it grew it’s own power. The Pharaoh’s Triumph was described to have semi-sentient vines with flowers growing from it, and when it was reaching it’s full power it would begin to excrete a toxic fog in order to place a curse upon land and leave it entirely desolate. The only way to destroy it was to go to the root of the issue - the original plant itself, just as Atlas had suggested, and burn it.

With the fog already in full force, the party had no time to waste. It was immediately to the grounds with the intent of burning down the plant, though no plan in place on the how.

Once everyone had arrived at the greenhouse, it was decided that despite the heartbreak it would cause to their own Professor Flamsteed and the other students of Herbology, the only way to truly eradicate the Pharaoh’s Triumph was to burn the entire greenhouse to the ground. With the how decided, Professor Kazmi suggested the group use the knockback jinx in order to throw torches into the greenhouse. The group complied, sending torches crashing through windows until a loud screech was heard and the ground began to shake. They had triumphed over the Pharaoh’s Triumph.

With heavy hearts, they all retreated back to the castle and the rest of the term was spent cleaning up the vines how they could and preparing for examinations. Before everyone knew it, another term had come to a close and it was the final feast. It was at the ending feast that Headmaster Trent then announced his retirement, and the end of the Trent era at Hogwarts. The feast came to a close and it was back to the train to travel home to their families.
