Looking away with her cheeks looking like they'd been badly sunburnt, she also wondered what was the reason they needed a bigger room. What were they going to do?

... she was afraid to ask.

Scowling, she raised her hand. "Diffindo does three things--it rips, divides, and separates an object," she said. Pretty gruesome-sounding for such a simple spell. "...into parts," she added as an afterthought. Just to make it clear that there was a purpose.

Still glimpsing at the dummies, she wondered what they'll do with them. Do we get to practice each spell on them?! That would be interesting!

Was this how things were always going to be? She hoped not.

When she asked who knew what diffindo was Selina wanted to scream. She learned this in Charms last year, "Its a severing charm, ma'am. Its often mistaken for transfiguration.
"You are all correct, of course. It is a severing charm, and as Selina pointed out, not strictly Transfiguration. But it will be used to assist whichever upperclassman that you younger folks will be pairing up with." But she wasn't going to tell them exactly what they would be doing with it just yet. "So I thought it prudent to teach those of you who don't yet know it, since charms and transfiguration are very closely linked." Isabelle gave the girl a smile and wink before pulling out her wand. With a quick flourish she conjured a melon and held it out in front of her.

"The wand movement is down, then up, then down again. In one fluid motion," Isabelle held the melon in one hand and showed them the movement with her wand. Not saying the spell though, could be bad. "Now, would anyone like to demonstrate it for me? Anyone at all."
