JK ROWLING has revealed she turned down a role in Harry Potter movies because she fears she can't act. Article: Quote: The Sunday Mail (UK Newspaper) has the following story today.
JK ROWLING has revealed she turned down a role in Harry Potter movies because she fears she can't act.
While the latest film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has smashed box office records since opening in the UK last week, author JK has told fans she has no desire to appear on the big screen.
And she admitted she turned down the chance toplay Harry's mum, Lily. She and husband James were killed by Lord Voldemort when Harry was a baby.
JK denied rumours she was Witch No. 1 in second film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
'Nope, not true, sorry,' she told fans on her website.
'The filmmakers did ask me to play Lily in the Mirror of Erised scene in the first film but I really am not cut out to be an actress, even one who just has to stand and wave.

 wow...okay...that odd. anyone can act, maybe shes just used to stage acting and there u have to exagerate things, is that a possibility?

well yes I'd have to agree with baby bunny, I wouldnt have liked her as Lily for a few reasons, one: It would have totally distracted 2: It would take you out of the story, instead of looking at a new face seeing them 'as his mother' you would see Jo (no affense) 3: It's best to leave her to the writing, let the actors act 4: she dosent really look like lily 5: just no lol ( we love Jo but please, stay in writing only) she was smart for that reason.
plus: the actress who plays lily seems to be doing a gret job

I love JKR as a writer, so I really don't care ether way if she moves on to be an actress! I think she wouldn't be too awful though

I think it was fine actually. I mean, she's just not cut to be an actress; she admitz it too. It would have been distracting if she did play Lily, but since her role was kind of small it wouldn't really have mattered.

i dont think that she should have been Lilly but i think it would have been cool if she did a peter jackson and appeared in a shot like he does in all the LOTR films.

I think that, in a way, it's good that she declined the role. It's amazing, really, watching your stories come to life. You don't need to be in them to make them real. She does a brilliant job writing, but if she felt that she wouldn't o a good job acting, yet she took the part, she may have ended up being discouraged in the film. It's probably better this way.

Well I dont think J.k should be in the movies anyway I mean she is a writter not an actress and it would kinda be weird seeing the author of the books in the movies.

hmmm.... I don't know why she didn't want to play Lily in the first movie...
I mean, you just have to stand there, smile and wave!  I guess maybe she just wanted to stay writer not acter :ermsmile: ... and maybe she didn't want movie directors to ask her to act in there movie... Yeah, that's probably it... :/

It would have been interesing if she was Lily Potter, but in the end the decision is up to her...and we have to respect that...

that would have been odd having her play Lily. I can understand why they asked, but I'm glad she turned it down. Let the actors act, let the writers write.
I did think she had a cameo in the 1st movie. The woman that is talking to the Station worker before Harry goes up and asks where Platform 9 and three quarters is. But, alas, I was wrong.

i wonder what it would be like if she did! Alfred Hitchcock did things like that (is that how u spell it?). He'd appear as a bystander or random person in the beggining of the movie. it's kinda cool!
