Hermione’s hand was once again the first and only hand to shoot up in the air as Professor Snape asked the class about the proper use of hellebore in relation to the Draught of Peace that they would be brewing that lesson. Looking down at her over his pointy nose, Professor Snap ignored her and looked around the classroom.

“No one?” he said looking especially at his Slytherin students. “What a pity. I was actually considering giving out house points to the person who could answer this question.”

Hermione began shaking her hand around violently. Last time she had spoken out of turn she had cost her house points, not to mention almost had received detention with Professor Snape for the sole reason of being an insufferable know-it-all as he had put it.

Professor Snape rolled his eyes and turned to the blackboard to write down a few notes before turning back to the students and seeing Hermione still waving her hand around like some crazed monkey reaching for a banana. Scowling at her, he took out his wand and cast a nonverbal Petrificus Totalus on her which put a stop to her aggravating attention seeking.
