Did he want to leave? His eyes fell on the book surrounding them and he was just about to say no when he spotted a student not far away, apparently studying. Maybe they SHOULD leave after all. Jeremy swiftly walked past Kimber to take a particularly old textbook out of the opposite shelf and holding it up he asked, "May I take this along?" As silly as it might have looked and sounded, he needed it.
Kimber looked up at him, expressionless in the shadowy room.
"I don't know how to make this better for you," she said,
"but come with me."
She reached down and took Jeremy's free hand, smiling when he asked to bring along the book. Why deny him this comfort?
"Of course you may," she answered, leading him past the dusty shelves.
