"Max. His name is Max. And the big deal is that you frightened him off." Simple. That's all she was annoyed about. Until...
Wait. What?!
"Uhm, no. I think I can protect myself, thanks." Grrr.
She did NOT like someone telling her that she was incapable of something. No matter who it was.
Eli shrugged.
"I didn't mean to scare him off." he said. True, it was not his intention. That did not mean he didn't like the fact that he had. Big Scary Eli. Yaaar. He looked at the board.
"Yeah, that was a good move." He moved his queen's bishop's pawn up two spaces.
"So how about that potion's class, huh? LaFlame is off her NUT. That bit about phoenix tears- Listen..." he lowered his voice so only those nearest him could hear.
"I worked out why she got all cagey, you know. It's because she's a dark witch, and that's how she can be so blase about valuable stuff. Because she can get it easy, as a dark witch. And she's really old. She was a DeathEater back in the days of Voldemort, only she just LOOKS young because she uses that super powerful anti-aging potion. That's why she was having us brew it, because she needs loads of it to keep up her young disguise. That's why she lost it when people weren't working hard on it, because she needs more than she can make on her own."
It made perfect sense. Logic!
