Marie had been sitting there trying to figure out where things had gone wrong with her and Carter when she heard someone asking if they could come in. Looking up to see Evan standing there she just said,
"Sure". Why not let him come in. She had no reason to not be his friend now. The only reason she stopped being his friend in the first place was because she didn't want that friendship to cause problems with her and Carter.
Looks like it was the WRONG friend she was worried about all along. Carter didn't want her to be friends with Evan because he didn't trust Evan. Yet here he was dating her best friend behind her back. No wonder Destiny was always telling her Carter wasn't any good for her... because all along she had been dating him too.
