was a date. Cringe. That was not Laura's area of expertise. She was glad he had backtracked. How could she best explain to him that she didn't decline because she didn't like him? Gosh, she didn't know him at all in the first place well enough to know. Uhm, maybe she had acted out of hastiness. All she could do was put on a weak smile.
"Don't let yourself get caught napping," she said, sort of out of joking. But really, she didn't want anyone getting into trouble. Not with the new department head in the same room.

A happy voice filled the room and Laura turned from where she was talking with John to see the man walk in. Ahh, he was the same man who was visiting Armen's office at the same time she was. She approached him with a bright smile. He seemed just as cheerful as the man he replaced as Portkey division head.

"That makes it even more likely for illegal broomstick activities to occur." Ugh. Sightings and other nonsense was hard business sometimes. It left plenty of paperwork for her and her employees.
