"Welcome to the charmed kitchen," she greeted with a smile. She gestured toward a group of chairs, motioning for the girls to take a seat if they'd like. "Go ahead and take a seat, and we'll get started just as soon as a few of the others have arrived. If you smell something cooking, then it's probably the cake the two Gryffindor girls are working on," she said, pointing to Gold and Taylor.
She waved to both Gold and Taylor from the other side of the room. "How's the cake coming along, Miss Laksh?" she asked the prefect. She looked from Gold to Vanessa then back again. No doubt Gold and Taylor were wondering why so many people were suddenly trickling in. "Invitations committee meeting...," she said, motioning toward the girls who'd just come in. "Maybe some of the committee members would like to help you two bake, but first, I'm going to need them at the meeting. We're going to have treats soon, though, so you girls are, of course, welcome to some." Lexi wouldn't dare to serve yummy treats to the committee and exclude Gold and Taylor. Oh, Professor Carlton was back! "It's coming along pretty nicely, ma'am," Gold said, wand in hand as a toothpick inverted itself over the batter, and went right in. It came out clean and, once she had set it aside, Gold used her wand to cause the fire to flicker, falter and die. Now that that was out of the way, she could finally move on to the next step. If Taylor wanted to pitch in, she could, at any time. Gold would be glad of any help, as well as ready to answer any questions the firstie might have. If she knew the answer, of course. Gold was a good baker, but she wasn't the best, out there. Lots of Hogwartsians probably had better skills.
As she set her not-yet-cakeyy cakeyy to cool, wire-racks levitated to their proper place, and then set down, she listened to Professor Carlton and nodded. "Oh, I didn't know everyone was trickling in for the meeting, professor," she said simply. Sooo. Meeting, eh? She got to be included, hehe! She gave Professor Carlton a cheerful, little smile, before returning to her work in silence, so as not to disturb the meeting.
Such pretty scents!
