| Jimbo will set his turtle loose on you. { The Farley } "That's trademarked, don't use it." SPOILER!!: ProfMan Quote:

Turning to the board, he added another word. Horology. "Now, don't be concerned if you didn't make the connection. Many muggles aren't familiar with this word, either. Horology is the study of time, and by extension, the pieces that keep time. Watches. Clocks. Sundials." "So, yes, Horolos, will transfigure an item into a watch or clock. The shape it takes depends on what you picture it to be. Those more advanced students will be able to create more intricate pieces, though I encourage you all to start small."
Reaching behind the desk, Preston pulled up another box. Reaching in, he removed a single muggle combination lock. "Pass these around. Everyone gets one." He handed the box to a student in the front. "We're going to all transfigure the same object, so we can again reflect on the changing properties. Take notice of the similarities, in particular. The lock has a face, with numbers. A watch, or a clock, will have a face, with numbers. Let that help you focus." "Remember, picture the new piece in your mind, what you want it to look like. And then," Preston unholstered his wand and rolled up his sleeve. "The wand movement is a little more complicated. Three tight clock-wise circles, with a flick at the end." He demonstrated. "So, horolos. Pronounce it hor-eh-los, three tight circles." Preston did so, transfiguring his lock into into a stylish pocketwatch. When you have your lock, you may give it a try. Raise your hand if you have questions or need help. Remember, you might not get it right your first time."
Preston tapped the blackboard with his wand, adding the information. Quote:

"And remember, this time, if you're not successful the first time, use reverto to make it the original lock before you try again." Muaha. He managed to get his guess right. Go Jimbo. The Farley wins again. Even more proud of himself now, Jimbo lifted his quill to write down the new notes on the board. Quote:

Nothing. Typical. Unsurprised, Jimbo tried again. Tight circle clockwise...one, two, three and FLICKY. "Horolos!"
The lock grew a bell. Huh. He wasn't doing so bad then. That's good. He'll have to undo it though, so he could try again. *sigh* "Reverto!"
The bell disappeared. Trying again, Jimbo did the wand movement. "Horolos!
And TWO bells. Allllright. So, he'd have to try again.
A couple more tries later (he lost count) he had two bells, the clock hands and the teeny legs at the bottom. Good progress.
Circle, circle, circle, FLICK! "Horolos!"
Aaaaaaandd CLOCK!
Yay!
But wait. He shouldn't get too excited. There was ALWAYS something wrong. He double and triple checked the clock but it seemed to be fine. Hmm. He turned it on and set it for 5 seconds. After those five seconds, nothing happened. URGH. That WOULD happen, wouldn't it?
So now, instead of there being a sound he can't get rid of, there's a sound he can't GET?
Someone was messing with him. This is completely ridiculous.
Growling, Jimbo turned it back to normal and tried again. "Horolos!
Set for 5 seconds.
Wait.
Nothing.
Reverto-ness. "Horolos!
Set for five seconds.
Wait.
Nothing.
Growl again. "Reverto!
Set for 5 seconds.
Wait.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand nothing.
Obviously getting frustrated, Jimbo tried again. "Reverto! Horolos!
He put down his wand in an angry manner and picked up the clock to set it. He stared at it for five seconds and didn't expect anything to happen, so he wasn't prepared to silence it when it went off. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN NNNNNNNGGGG!
Again, it was Jimbo who was making the noise. Jimbo the Noisemaker. Thing is, he didn't even mean to. BLAH.
Grabbing his wand from his desk, he silenced the thing and kept glaring at it until he realized that he'd done it. Yay!
Suppressing the urge to get up and dance like he did last time he just sat back and grinned.
