Adrienne had to struggle to not raise an eyebrow in incredulity at Neptune's response to her compliment, or show anything other than politeness and friendliness. Something told her Neptune Bott wasn't the type to take teasing very well. Her blue eyes flickering around to the rest of the group as she tried to figure out exactly how to answer a question like that, stopping for a bit longer on Phoebus as she had the most bizarre and random thought pop up in her head about one of the reasons she had been wondering if he'd been avoiding her, she finally made a decision and looked back at Neptune, smiling again. "Why thank you. You seem rather lovely yourself, fitting that you own that bracelet," she said, feeling like anyone that knew her really would know how much of that was completely put-on. Not that she didn't like jewelry, although she didn't wear a lot of it on a regular basis, but they'd be able to tell she didn't quite know how to take Miss Bott. But she could feign it quite well.

"It's so pretty Cela! A present from someone?" Allison wanted to know. It didn't matter who had given it to Cela, it had probably been before Allison had popped up in Hogwarts. Then again it had only been hours since she arrived. And plus, Allison recognized that although she had adopted Cela as her big sister--in her head, Cela didn't know that yet.

And she was right. The girl had walked over and had spoken to Cela. And although Cela didn't seem aware of it, Allison had smelled animosity the moment Neptune had spoken. Whether it was aimed at Cela or something or someone related to Cela, Allison could care less.

To her great annoyance, Allison spotted the bracelet Adrienne had mentioned and nearly whined. The bracelet was beautiful. And that had given her a great feeling of poking Adrienne hard on the ribs for making her notice. Well whatever. She liked Cela's better. Sort of. But she did, however notice the butterflies on the bracelet, reminding Allison of her mother and her butterfly trademark. Which reminded Allison she hadn't seen her mother's butterfly.

No longer hiding from anyone, Allison sat up straight and let her eyes travel over the entire common room. The last time she'd seen the white butterfly enchantment was when she had left her things in her room. Odd.
And then Adrienne was halfway distracted again by Allison next to her, shifting around again. Something told her she'd almost been poked again, but she disregarded that feeling as she glanced over at the girl, who had sat back up and was looking around the room kind of randomly. Not knowing what triggered the action, she glanced in the direction the girl happened to be looking in at that point, before wondering if she should ask if she was okay again. Maybe Neptune had gotten to her or something.

Her attention flicked back to Neptune and nodded. Of course Cela had nice hair too. It was important to make sure your hair looked pretty. Clean was kind of the most important thing.

Cela wrinkled her nose.

"I have four brothers you know. So... four annoying letters." Mostly annoying. There were good parts too. "I don't know why they've all decided to write to me lots. I mean, I got stuff on the train, you know?"

Sigh.

Must be because there technically wasn't anyone left at Hogwarts to make sure she didn't get in trouble.

Unless you counted Garret.

We don't count Garret.

Garret= Trouble.

Celandine looked at Adrienne next and shrugged helplessly in response. If she had to bet on it, she'd say that the whole thing with Professor Truebridge was a way of trying to get the real culprit to show themselves.

A present? Cela idly brushed at the links of the chain her pendant hung from and smiled at Allison. "Yes it was. Ages ago. I made one of my brother's buy it for me when we were at a store one time."

She'd kind of whined about it. Good thing she'd grown out of that.
And then Cela sort of responded to her musing about Professor Truebridge with a shrug, and Adrienne's eyes went back to her as she gave her a kind of vague smile. She just hoped someone would figure out who actually had done the murders, so they could stop wondering why Professor Truebridge had gotten fingered. And if it was some sort of ruse, she felt sorry for her former History of Magic professor. He didn't deserve that.

"I only have two brothers," she said kind of randomly, feeling like she needed to keep talking before she felt really awkward in the group. "But Riley's here at Hogwarts, so he'd have no reason to write to me." Not that she thought he ever would, even if they hadn't been twins and therefore rarely not in the same location. At least with school. That might change after this term, but she still didn't think he'd bother to write to her. Christopher might, if he felt the need to, but he wasn't much of a letter-writer.
