Ferris gave her a sheepish smile as she told him he wasn't a pain, as though showing his appreciation for a lie she had told to spare his feelings. "I'm not the best cooking partner," he explained as though this was a bit obvious. "I'm a complainer and....I'm reluctant and...I don't know, I just...You cut your finger," he said with a light, humorless chuckle. He seemed a little awkward, having to explain this to her, but he felt it needed to be done.
