"Right, good! I'm walking towards it.Slowlyyyy." Gradually she made her way around the winding walls of corn, peeking round the next one hoping to catch sight of her friend coming the other way, but not yet.Sighing, she wondered if they would ever get out before the sun set on them and the curfew hit.
Scuffing her feet along the ground as she went, Sarah looked up at the castle as it got closer and loomed into view better than before.Scratching her head as she came to a fork she glanced right then left, wondering which direction to take.If she chose the wrong one it could take her in the opposite direction to Mariel.Taking a deep breath she launched herself down the right side and carried on walking, turning a corner a few feet along.Just as she did so a dark haired girl walking backwards came into view.Beaming Sarah ran towards her. "Mariel!! Finally! Umm now we just need to get out of here..." Biting her lip, she spun on the spot looking around at all the maize. Please tell me this isn't happening.
Surprisingly enough, the backwards-walking Mariel had not yet run into anyone as she wasn't really looking behind her as she went. She stopped momentarily as she heard Sarah's voice once again. The Ravenclaw girl nodded once to herself in confirmation as she said,
"Okay and I'm backing awaaaayyy."
SMACK! The back of Mariel's body suddenly came into contact with a wall of corn - an apparent fork in the so-called road. Well, at least it wasn't a person. At the sound of theat same familiar voice now calling her name, the 15 year old turned her head and grinned in the process.
"Well, that's better," she said to Sarah as she ran towards her. Her throat was starting to get sore from the shouting. Looking up at Sarah, Mariel slid down the maize wall until she was sat on the ground with legs crossed. Shrugging, she said,
"I suppose... Just let me rest for a minute." All the shouting, searching, and walking had worn her out temporarily.
