"Expecto Patronum." he stated with a flourish of wand. A steady wisp of silver magic flew from his wand. It wasn't much, but it was something.
He broke his concentration to think of a second memory involving him and his older siblings. But then the thought of Professor Kazimeriz's Patronus filled his head. Had he seen this before? And then it hit him.
Ludo raised his hand, "Professor? Sir? If you don't mind me asking, I know this is a difficult subject. But were you the one that sent a Patronus to the Headmaster the day the Hufflepuff boy was attacked in the Library?" "I was." Kazimeriz said with a brief nod, remembering that day all too well. Pfft. As if this cheerful atmosphere would help him stimulate some happy memories. He wasn't feminine and contrary to popular belief, he really did not like the color pink.
Happy memory. Happy memory. Only thing that came to mind was a certain recent incident in the Broom Cupboard and a brief sentence, 'I want to hold your hand'. Focusing his energy all on that one line, the fifth year raised his wand and closed his eyes. "Expecto patronum!" Dominic spoke with full effort, attempting to shun the happy tunes from his mind.
A small misty substances - hardly identifiable - procured from his wand, but only to quickly dissipate into the air of the Defense classroom. Hmph! What had he done wrong? "Professor?" Dominic asked suddenly, raising his hand. "Does closing the eyes have any effect on the quality of the happy memory or the result of the incantation?" "It could if it helps you to visualize the memory. However, I do not recommend closing one's eyes for while it may help you cast the charm, that does little to help you if you are busy trying to cast it and your attacker reaches you before you succeed. Remember: constant vigilance. Even when thinking up a happy memory." Kazimeriz said. Quote:

Often your patronus animal can be very small-- a hummingbird, for instance -- and it does not have less power than a wizard who has a bear for a patronus. What matters, class, is the strength of the memory and the skill with which you cast." Kazimeriz continued to pace the class, watching the students. "Remember the angle of your wand-bearing wrist, and the motion should be small... almost indiscernable to the eye."
After a few more moments, he reached the front of the class, standing between two large trunks which were spaced quite far from each other. "I ask that those who have successfully cast an animal queue up here, to my right. Those who can produce an ethereal patronus, to my left. Those who cannot yet produce a patronus, move to the back of the room and continue to work on your charm and I will come by to assist you once I have given the others their instructions." ooc: Please indicate where your charrie moves -- back of the room, to the left (ethereal patronus), or to the right (corporeal patronus) in your next post. Thanks!
