Samantha patted Rachel's shoulder comfortingly. This was so much for someone of her age to have to deal with! "I think your grandparents were really shocked when they found that Jake was magical and then, by the time you came along, they were more or less used to it, at least more used to it than they were the first time. And I agree, you should have been informed that you had an uncle who was magical and who was trying to get in touch with you the whole time." That was all that Samantha said. It wasn't her job to make judgments for or against Rachel's family.

Samantha didn't know whether she should let Rachel know what the contents of the owl's message were or not. She decided it might be a good idea to mention something, after all, Rachel would probably find out soon enough. "The young lady who was here, Lucy, that owl was from her," she explained. "I believe Lucy is interested in your uncle and vice versa. She was just explaining that she had gone to Diagon Alley to look for your uncle, that she was unable to find him here at the Ministry. I'm sure everything is all right and that your uncle is there, at the Leaky Cauldron." Samantha wondered what could be happening now.
