Nathan nodded as Nicoli told him not to be so formal. But why had the man felt the need to lie to his staff? It hadn't been an assumption on Nathaniel’s part. He had asked where the boss was… hadn’t he? Maybe he was losing it completely. The morning thus far was now a complete blur to him. He needed some more coffee.

Nathan, relieved to hear these words, relaxed a little bit again, but couldn’t help wondering what other tests Nicoli had in store for them along the way. The fact the Nicoli had confidence in both Amelia AND Nathan was also a relief. If Nathan had been watching this scene in the third person, he would not have had any confidence whatsoever in the wreck sitting in that dark corner of the room. Nicoli, at least, was a fair leader.

He gulped at the words “It seems like we've got our first assignment.” Pretty nerve wracking stuff. And working with Aurors? Oh dear, lets pray it isn’t one of his fathers associates.

"What do you need us to do sir ..er.." 'Dammit', "...I mean Nicoli?" This was all so new to him. So different from working in the relaxed, social environment of a Irish muggle pub. He’d just have to go with the flow on this one, and prey he didn’t collapse before the end of the day.
