A little bit from the end of the last chapter: Quote: “Hermione, I didn’t choose to be a Death Eater,” he said and walked towards her. “You know how my family is…” he raised his hand and wiped some tears off her face with his thumbs, the rest of his fingers pressed against her cheeks. Just the feel of his fingers made her calm down. Instantly, the moment his fingers touched her face, she flinched but let him rub them.
“Than why does it have to be this way?” she cried.
“It doesn’t,” he whispered, his lips brushing hers. Chapter 13: ~ Hate, love and kisses ~
At Potions class the next morning Hermione found herself sitting next to Draco Malfoy. She hadn’t seen him in the common room in the morning and she didn’t see him at breakfast. When she came in for potions she saw Draco sitting not at his usual seat at the front of the classroom but, at the back of the classroom where she usually sat next to Harryand Ron. He motioned for her to sit with him and during that whole lesson, neither spoke. Just occasionally, they made eye contact. When Harry and Ron came in and saw them sitting together, Harry gave her a questioning look and raised his eyebrows and Ron quickly looked away as if nothing happened but he looked insulted.
During the whole lesson, Hermione made sure that her skin didn’t touch Draco’s. When they worked on there assigned potion, Hermione moved her chair slightly so that she was working at the end of the desk. After all they weren’t yet a couple and she wasn’t sure she wanted to have a relationship with a Death Eater. She couldn’t let her heart fall in love and then break. Draco noticed this and reached out to take her hand but she pulled away and placed her hand under the table. Draco took his hand back in confusion and decided to wait until there free class which was right after potions.
When the class ended, Snape telling them to right an essay about a health potion, Hermione gathered her stuff and walked out of the dungeons before Draco had even left his seat. She looked back and saw Harry and Ron running to catch up with her.
“Hermione, wait!” Harry called.
Hermione stopped and waited for them. She smiled as if nothing had happened but she couldn’t fool them. Ron looked red and furious.
“What was he” - he pointed at the passing Draco- “Doing in our seats?” Hermione’s smile vanished at once and turned into an angry sneer.
“Did you see name tags engraved on those seats, Ron?” she asked and when Ron didn’t reply she said, “I’m sorry, did I miss the new rule that says ‘permanent seats’?” Ron looked very insulted and angry as his face and ears turned even redder. Harry stood there unsure of whose side he should be on.
“I think you missed the part that Harry and I are your friends!” he said and grabbed Harry by the hand. “Let’s go, we’ve got better friends than her!” and with that he left, pulling Harry behind him, leaving a shocked Hermione behind.
No, Hermione didn’t cry. Instead, she ran right up to hers and Draco’s common room and did what was right. She knocked on his door and waited impatiently for him to open. He opened the door wearing only his boxers and a white tea shirt.
“May I help you?” he asked grinning.
“Draco, we need to talk,” she said.
“Ok, let me just…” he pulled his pants on and through on his robes. Hermione actually liked him in his boxers and tea shirt. It made him look hot. “Let’s go,” he said and followed Hermione to the couches in front of the fire. He sat on a two seat couch and tried to take Hermione’s hand but she sat on an armchair across from him.
“Draco,” she began, “this isn’t going to work out.”
“What do you mean?” he asked, frowning.
“You and me…together,” she said, trying to sound normal.
“Why not? I thought you wanted to be with me!” he said, searching her face for some sign of explanation.
“When did I say I wanted to be with you?” she asked surprised at him.
“Last night. Down by the lake,” he said, raising an eyebrow, trying to refresh her memory.
“I never said such a thing!” she cried.
“Then what were those kisses about?” he asked, jumping up and standing in front of her. Hermione stood up to but he was still a head taller than her.
“Kisses?” she asked, taken aback. “It was one real kiss last time I counted!” she said, thinking of that crazy night in the Jacuzzi.
“Fine then let’s make it two!” he yelled and pulled Hermione into to him and right before there lips met Hermione pushed him away. She didn’t know he could be so controlling sometimes. All she wanted to do was talk about what will happen with there relationship and what he wanted to do was kisses and stuff!
“Draco, stop!” she yelled at him. “All I want to do now is discuss this…” Draco stood up and sat back down looking apologetic.
“Look, I’m sorry. I just got a little carried away,” he said and Hermione thought he got carried away big time! She took a sip from her cup that was on the side table and picked her book off the floor that she forgot the other night.
“Ok,” she said sitting back down and taking a deep breath. After a moment of silence she said, “I want you to know that I like you, Draco, but…” she trailed off, not wanting to say the part about him being a Death Eater.
“But?” he asked, motioning her to continue by waving his right hand.
“I can’t let my heart fall in love and then break,” she said speaking more to herself than to Draco. “What I mean is you are- you are…” she trailed off.
“I’m what?” he asked, looking confused.
“You’re a Death Eater!” she finally said.
“So?” he asked looking a little insulted.
“Draco, you want my best friend dead!” she said, standing up and looking at him full in the face, now. “How can I be with you when you are working for a murderer and someone who doesn’t think I should learn magic? I’m a-a Mud- Mudblood!” she couldn’t believe she said that about herself. She stood there stunned at her own words. Draco just stared at her, unsure of what to say and Hermione got very impatient that he wasn’t saying anything. “Say something!” she said to him and after a few minutes Draco took a step forward towards Hermione and said:
“Hermione, I think- I think… I think I’ve fallen in love with you!” he said looking guilty and Hermione dropped what she was holding. The glass shattered and was everywhere; her book dropped to the floor with a loud bang. Comment please!
