Defensive spells are also used mostly in protection of only yourself." she paused for a moment to think of some more concrete examples of what she meant, "However, defensive spells aren't always in defensive of yourself because there is the example of the Patronus charm."
Amelia smiled weakly at the Professor, hoping she was right. "Those were some excellent thoughts and I appreciate your ruminations on the question," Professor Branxton replied. He waved his wand at the blackboard and the above replied duplicated themselves. "The dictionary definition of security is precautions taken to guard against crime, attack, sabotage, espionage, etc. The dictionary definition of defense is resistance against attack or protection.
"These definitions help us to distinguish between security charms and defensive spells. However, this distinction is highly subject to individual interpretation. For the purposes of this class, Security Charms are those that are used in order to prevent an attack while Defensive Spells are those that are used in order to ward off an attack which is already in progress.
"For this class, we will be learning a few practical security charms that you might find useful even here at school. If there were one security charm you wished to use at school, what would it be?" he asked, thoughts of Clara coming unbidden to his mind at his own words. Quote:

Of course he wasn't okay with his precious girls missing.
