Moldy Voldy FOOBS Crystal read over the directions on the board, copying them down quickly onto a sheet of parchment. While doing so, she listened to the professor as well, knowing he would tack on a few verbal instructions in addition to the written ones. Ingredients: Water (200mL)- potion base Salt (6 g)- emits light Billywig stings, dried, powdered (2)- excitation Essence of firefly (3 drops)- aids in the production of light Instructions: *Set water to boil and add salt, stirring clockwise until dissolved *Powder billywig stings and add to boiling salt water, stir counter-clockwise 12 times, then clockwise twice and repeat six times *Carefully add essence of firefly, one drop at a time, stirring 6 times counter-clockwise then clockwise twice in between each addition *Reduce flame and simmer for 20 min before allowing potion to cool *Carefully ladle potion into appropriately sized vessels ones. Satisfied that she had gotten everything correct, Crystal then went up to Professor Branxton's desk to retrieve her two vials. She set them on her desk, and then set about arranging her ingredients. She set out her cauldron, lighting a small fire underneath it. She then measured out the water needed and poured it into the cauldron. While waiting for the water to boil, she measured out the billywig stings and salt, careful to keep them separate. Crystal liked to have order and efficiency when brewing her potions, as messy habits could lead to mistakes. Once the water was boiling, Crystal added the salt. She sitred clockwise until the grayish color had left the water, signalling that the salt had dissolved. She blew a puff of air up , trying to move her hair out of the way when she finally just reached for a hair band on her wrist and tied it up in it's usual messy bun. She then set to work powdering the Billywig sting with her mortar and pestle, careful not to drop any bits. She poured it out into the boiling water, making sure it all got in. Crystal looked over the directions again, muttering them to herself as she began the stirring of the potion, countin each counter-clockwise and clockwise stir aloud so as not to do too many. She also marked on her paper when she reached the end of each cycle for even more accuracy. " Now I really want that self-stirring cauldron.." she said as she neared the end of the long stirring process. She finished, and then she proceeded to find her dropper, taking out a bit of Firefly essence as she went along. She took a small amount, and with great care added the first drop, stirring the required direction and number before adding more. She repeated it twice, and then looked to her directions once more. She lowered her flame, watching the water to make sure bubbles weren't breaking the surface furiously anymore. She let out a breath, feeling quite good about her potion so far. Then she looked to the clock, noting the time so she could mark her twenty minutes. Crystal didn't know what it was about potions, but she found it thouroughly enjoyable. She was checking over her notes and cleaning up her area a bit when she looked up and saw that her time was nearly up. When it was, she took out a ladle and carefully poured as much of the potion as she could into the two vials, corking them snugly. She then put them in vial containers, as she didn't want them jostled and going off. She didn't clear away her potions remnants just yet as she wasn't sure they weren't needed for anything else, so she sat at her desk quietly waiting for other students to finish.
