- Has an older and younger sister
- Had an enriched and secure family life as he grew up, with plenty of trips to museums, operas, ballet, and classical concerts (some of which Brom felt were... well... more interesting than others)
- Grew up with a nanny who provided he and his siblings with essential primary schooling in reading, writing, mathematics, magical basics and principles, history, and art; he also tried to learn French but could not pick it up as easily as he did with Italian, which he speaks with his father
- Wanted for practically nothing his whole life; has a loving family, all the support he could need, and all the material possessions he could want (well, within reason, and he did learn to be reasonable in his requests)

- Despite the comparatively highbrow enrichment of his childhood, is a little more pedestrian in his hobbies and interests
- Follows Quidditch but doesn't actually play, though not for want of trying; he's just... not very good at it
