To create a new Potterdom discussion thread, scroll to the bottom of the forum page and click the New Thread button. This will take you to a new page with blank text fields where you can submit the first post of your thread; this acts as the home base for your writing.

Please be sure to include all of the following elements:

1. Prefix
   Prefixes help with organization, filtering, and content expectations, so please choose carefully and update them if your thread's scope changes over time.
   
   Next to the Title field, you'll see a drop-down menu for prefixes. If applicable, select a prefix to help readers understand what category your discussion thread will fall under.
   
   The following are prefixes you can choose from:
   
   
   • WoWW Spotlight - Use this prefix for threads that align with the current Words of Witchcraft and Wizardry theme. Please view this thread for more information.
   • Mature - Use this prefix for threads that include discussion of mature or sensitive topics. Threads with this prefix must still follow site content guidelines and remain respectful.
   • Spoilers - Use this prefix for threads that contain major plot revelations or unmarked spoilers. If your thread includes only minor details or widely known canon facts, a Spoiler prefix is not necessary.
   
   
2. Title
   Choose a title for your thread. This can be anything you like as long as it is in some way connected to the discussion topic you will be posting.
   
   The following are example titles:
   

   If you could rewrite one character's fate, who would it be?
   
   Rebuilding the Wizarding World: What should/must not be changed?
   
   What scenes would you have cut or added?
   
   Unpopular Harry Potter Opinions

3. Description
   To begin your first post, please include a clear description and layout for your discussion thread. This helps readers understand the kind of discourse they're about to engage in and ensures your topic is easy to navigate from the start.
   
   
4. Content Warning
   If your thread includes discussion containing potentially sensitive material, please include a content warning at the beginning of the post. List any applicable content notes to help readers make informed decisions before engaging with your discussion. Content warnings may be updated as the discussion progresses, and when in doubt, it's always better to err on the side of caution.

Your thread will be submitted as a moderated thread, meaning it will remain pending until approved by a Potterdom moderator. (Mods and admins: please remember to unapprove your own threads after posting.)

After approval, your discussion thread will be visible and ready for replies, updates, and appreciation!

Please remember that moderators are real people volunteering their time. Thread approvals may take a few days, especially during busy periods. If a full week has passed and your thread is still pending, feel free to politely contact a moderator about your submission.
