"Well, now you know myself," he chuckled, his cheeks full and rosy, so let's see about making some more introductions, shall we?"
And speaking of, Victoria had found her way over to him. He would have jested about how was she able to identify him in a mask, but it was all too obvious that she could easily do so at this point. "Ah, here is a prime opportunity. This is one of my department heads," he began while gesturing to the exquisite blonde, his cheeks just a bit more rosy at the compliment. "Victoria Culloden of Magical Games and Sports. Victoria, this is...well...hmmm...come to think of it, I do not think I caught your name, my dear." He offered his girlfriend department head a cheeky little wink before shifting his attention back to the new employee.
"I cannot say that I have...though I may simply be having a difficult time spotting her among this sea of masks." Something that had had him object to this idea initially. Even though he had apparently been his own idea? Curious. * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * It was her mask.
He had no idea how she had talked him into this and he had spent practically the entire day reflecting back on this simple thought. He truly, truly, did not want to be here. He did not fancy stepping inside the Ministry again unless it was for business purposes and he fancied even less seeing his former employer. He could barely handle Professor Nutcase before and after...everything...he was certain that his tolerance level was in the minuses.
His own mask clutched in his hand, he said he would attend but had made no promises to actually wear the masked picked out for him, Cox was internally the epitome of discomfort. Something that would perhaps show in the tightness of his shoulders. His jaw always seemed in a perpetual state of being set and clenched, so that was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Yes." An easy answer for an easy question. He was also pointedly ignoring the presence of a dance floor. "Something to drink?" Because he needed one. Quote:

She searched and searched for the perfect dress and she felt she had found it. In the dark purple long gown, heels, and mask Zita was ready for the party. Her arm was around Adam's and she thought he looked amazing this evening though she was worried that he would struggle without his glasses. As they walked in she couldn't help but think about the last time there was a more formal event in this very spot. It wasn't until Adam's question that her thoughts left and she found herself blinking at him.
What? He was joking, right? "I would think after two years you would call me your girlfriend, unless she are embarrassed to be with me in front of your coworkers."
Maybe this night wasn't going to be all she had thought it would. She knew Charles was not a fan of the more formal orientations, but Victoria couldn't help but smile at the way the ministry looked and how handsome he was looking, though she watched him for a bit with a worried expression. She feared the stress of the job was wearing on him and he wasn't fully taking care of himself. They had been together long enough now that she felt she could read him pretty well, but she wondered if she needed to be more attentive to make sure he was sleeping and eating enough.
In her navy blue gown and matching mask she greeted all the employees as she made her way over to the minister of magic. "Well minister you really do clean up nice." Her smile grew as she thought about the holiday and how she wished they could have had just a little more time, but work was upon them, though she had worked over the break with quidditch still going.
"Have you seen Alana at all?" Her daughter wouldn't come with her of course, she said about needing to find her way on her own. So she didn't press it further and figured she'd just see her here. Entering the ministry made Alana nervous. She had been there before, but not as an official employee. She was excited for this new adventure and the doors that she could help open if it all worked out. She knew squibs were more equal in some ways, especially with her mother working as hard as she had any chance she could get to advocate for squibs, but now that she was working at the ministry and in the ministry office she was going to fully prove they were valuable.
Checking her watch and hoping she wasn't late the blonde made her way towards the food table. Her silver mask matching her dress made it a little hard to see, but she found a plate and decided she would check out the sweets before doing anything else.
Ilse took the Minister’s hand as she stood, grateful for the assistance, before realizing...
Holy Harry Potter! I’m touching the Minister of Magic!
Now that she was standing properly on her own two feet, what was she supposed to do? Was she supposed to let go of the offered hand or would that be rude? But it would be awkward to just keep holding his hand, right? Hand hand hand. Her hand started sweating a bit.
Thankfully at that moment, another woman appeared at the Minister’s side, and he was introducing them. Letting go of the Minister’s hand, she reached to shake the hand of the newcomer.
”Oh! Of course! Sorry... I’m Ilse, Ilse Saunders. I’m in Accidents & Catastrophes. A Spells Patent Agent,” she explained proudly. There were few things in life that Ilse was proud of or confident about, but this was one of them. Even after so many years studying, she still found spell-building to be absolutely fascinating and would totally geek out over it if anyone encouraged it.
”It’s nice to meet you, Ms. Culloden,” she said, a smile growing on her face as she caught a bit of the Minister’s wink and quickly picked up on some chemistry. As the two of them began looking for another woman, Ilse decided it might be time to gracefully excuse herself so the Minister could make the rounds.
”If you’ll both excuse me, I think I’m actually going to go get a drink,” she said with a graciousness that had somehow magically appeared when she’d put on her fancy gown.
With a final smile at the
couple two of them, she carefully made her way over to the drinks.
