Garreth was so much more calm now, one could be forgiven for thinking he was a different person altogether. "Thank goodness. My father once lost a library book when he went to school, and they took away one house point for every hour it was overdue!" he shivered just at the thought. "He did go to Durmstrang, though.. so they clearly don't have as clever a librarian there as we do here." he smiled, reaching for his tea and taking a tiny sip.

"Of course I care about them, sir. Where would we be if we didn't have books?" a question that encapsulated Garreth's attitude towards books and learning in general. To him, passing down your knowledge to generations of people after you seemed a more noble goal than most. And to disrespect that legacy by purposely damaging books was an insult, not just to the witch or wizard who wrote the book, but to everything Garreth stood for.
