Therefore, the cat had joined him at the castle for every year and this was now their seventh and final year. He gave the feline a little while more of his attention, quiet and devoid of conversation with Professor Marchand before sitting back straight and fidgeting with the edge of his robes.

"Charms, Sir. That's what I'm leaning towards, anyway. No campus as of yet.." Maybe Edinburgh. To be close to Liv and make the visits to Hogsmeade easier.
Gaston silently watched Phantom with Mr. Bronwyn. The little cat was flicking her tail back and forth and rubbing against the Head Boy's legs, clearly loving every minute of the attention she was getting. The comment about cats and babies made the professor laugh a little. "So I see," he said. Granted, he'd never seen Mr. Bronwyn with a baby, but if Phantom''s reaction was any indication, he'd believe it.

He sat back in his chair, patiently waiting for Phantom to stop hamming it up long enough for Mr. Bronwyn to answer his questions. He nodded, smiling slightly in reply. "Of course, I might've guessed," he said. Because it wouldn't make much sense for the boy to come to him for advice if he were interested in a different subject. "Excellent choice!" Mr. Bronwyn had always been a very promising student in his classes; he had no doubt he'd do well in a university charms program.

Gaston thought for a moment. "I must admit I know more about French university programs than English ones, so I'm not sure how much use I'll be in helping you pick a location," he went on, "though I do happen to know the university in London has a world-renowned charms program. I considered attending there myself back in the day..." He chuckled sheepishly as his voice trailed off. Why would Mr. Bronwyn ever need to know that?

Then an idea occurred to him. "Would you be interested in studying in abroad?" he asked.

Just how she liked it. "Thank you for the coffee." The Professor totally didn't need to give students complimentary drinks but it was FANTASTIC that he did. Besides, Olivia wouldn't say no to a free cup of warm, delicious coffee. YUM.

She thanked him for opening the door and followed his lead into the office. Ah. Right. She supposed that she would need to get to the matter of hand. "Professor, I would like to learn wandless magic. I've read through a couple of books found by Mr. Kennedy and it seems difficult but I was wondering if you could provide some insight into how to learn this. Is it even possible?" she asked.

Wandless magic was something that truly amazed her and she desperately wished to learn- even if it took several hours, days, weeks, or years. She would put in the dedication to succeed at it or try and fail but she would still try. Do or do not- there is only try.
Gaston returned Miss Holden's smile with a polite, though slightly sad one of his own, but his expression changed when she asked him how he was. He didn't know how to answer that question; he didn't want to lie but he didn't want to worry her either. So he gave the only answer he could. "I'm fine, thank you for asking," he said, dropping his gaze to hide the sadness in his eyes. "And you?"

He was slightly taken aback when the girl thanked him for the coffee, but he still smiled in reply. Really, she didn't have to thank him! He was happy to be able to give the students something they'd enjoy, and besides, he doubted he'd get as many visitors if he didn't provide some incentive for coming to his office. "You're very welcome, Miss Holden" he said. "Please help yourself to as much as you like."

Well Miss Holden certainly didn't waste any time in getting right to the point! Gaston had only just taken his seat in the big leather chair on the opposite side of the desk when she started talking about wandless magic. He blinked. The girl had lofty ambitions, he'd give her that! The professor thought for a moment before nodding slightly. "It is possible, but it's s skill that few wizards are able to master. It takes years - if not a lifetime - of practice," he said. "I myself still struggle with wandless magic sometimes, but I'll be glad to teach you everything I know about it." His eyes dropped. Was she going to think less of him now that she knew he wasn't a pro at wandless magic yet?

But... her Head of House was speaking to her again. Focus. Lifting her head and sending her curls bouncing a bit she frowned ever so slightly. "Professor... please don't take this the wrong way because I do mean well... but why does this bother you so much? If you think you were right what does it matter what I have to say? " Stop trying to people please, sir! "You're the Gryffindor Head of House now, for better or worse. You have to start standing up for yourself and lead us by example, sir. We're a head strong lot, but if you let us... some of us... wI'll take advantage of you. Run you over. Chew you up and spit you out. This is your time to assert your dominance, Professor Marchand! "

Dora surveyed the man for a moment before speaking again, "I can totally teach you how to Gryffindor, sir. I've done it for many people. " Meaning she could teach him how to be BOLD AND BRAVE AND LOUD AND most importantly, she could teach him how to stop caring how others felt about him... or what they thought!
Gaston couldn't help but smile a little as he watched Phantom sidle over to Miss Umbridge. He was very grateful to his cat for the distraction... not that she had any idea what she was doing, of course. Or did she? Sometimes he wondered if Phantom sensed his emotions and was reacting accordingly. the black and white Persian nudged her head against the girl's hand to demand more petting. She was ever purring a little! Well, at least one of us is winning her over, he thought.

But his amusement at the cat's antics soon turned to shock as Miss Umbridge started speaking. His bright blue eyes grew wide; all he could to was stare at the girl in utter disbelief for a moment. That was probably the last thing he thought she'd say! He was expecting blame, insults, anything but advice. Once the initial shock wore off, he sat lost in thought, wondering how to answer her question. "It bothers me because I don't think I was right," he said as he finally forced himself to look back at the girl. "At least not now anyway, I'm sure I did at the time..." He sighed, pinching at the corners of his eyes. "When I saw you knock that cup out of Derfael's hand, I thought you were bullying him. Then when I found out why, I was hurt and overreacted." There was no other way to describe what had happened. "I regretted it immediately, but once I said I was taking points, I had to follow through with it. The thing I still don't understand is why... why you thought I would give my class tainted snacks." He knew Miss Umbridge probably wouldn't want to hear his side of the story, but he thought she had a right to know.

He nodded, chuckling slightly in reply to what the girl said about needing to stand up for himself and people taking advantage of him. That was exactly what everyone had been telling him all his life! "You're right," he said, "I am, and I intent to do just that." Just maybe not in the way she was expecting. "And as your your Head of House, I don't want there to be any hard feelings between us, so I was hoping we could start fresh..." He gave the girl a hopeful smile, but that smile turned into a laugh at what she said next. "I may have to take you up on that offer, Miss Umbridge!"
