“Time-turner sounds good,” Allegra agreed, returning the gentle kiss he placed on her lips for the few moments it lasted. Her eyes remained closed, listening to his voice quietly as he compared their attempt at love with the rest of the world. She smiled faintly as her eyes finally fluttered open and she focused in on her favorite person. “We’ve done alright,” she agreed softly, a playfulness still there though somewhat subdued. She let the silence fall between them, for the first time in a long time feeling as though it was comfortable and not loaded with unspoken things. And then, before they could get too comfortable, an unspoken thought slipped out of her lips. “Why aren’t you angry with Gabe?”
Allegra looked almost as surprised to say it as he must have been to hear it, fear flashing behind her light eyes, worried she might have just ruined their potential nice evening. But there were still things on her mind, left over feelings from the week that weren’t entirely resolved. Perhaps that wasn’t the goal of this evening, getting to the bottom of it all. But it was about more than just Adam pushing her away — it was about all the things that he used to push her away. These trust issues. Maybe some of it could be solved simply with time passing but there were worries that still distracted her as she tried to enjoy her evening with Adam. She didn’t want to fight or even go back into heavy discussion, but she wanted to know. And ever since it happened, it seemed as though he was only upset with her, not the random guy who decided to kiss her out of the blue.
