"Professor Flamsteed used it in Astronomy to protect himself from the bad smells in the room, and I thought that if it could protect you from bad smells and stuff... it might keep out other things. Like... when other students throw things."
Like food. At foodfights. Which he despised, Professor. Absolutely despised. But if the bubble head charm itself was too advanced for him, then surely anything that put a bubble of safety around him entirely would be way, waaaay too difficult.
"I don't wanna go in the water," he added belatedly. Though he was sure there was quite a bit of stuff to explore in there, he knew from his common room window that there were a lot of creatures in there as well, and he definitely wasn't tempting that fate.
Professor Flamsteed had done the spell, he held back a chuckle, because children could have a certain smell to them. He didn't blame the professor for wanting to keep them out if they were extremely stinky that day.
"That sounds like a very good reason to have that spell handy, but if anyone is throwing anything it might not help you. Though if someone tries to send a dungbomb it could help block the smell." He laughed at his own small joke. Yes it was lame, but he still laughed.
"Alright take out your wand. If you want to learn, you need to know the movements. You do a counter clock wise movement around your head like so." He did the movement to show how.
"Making sure you are doing this correct is very important. If you don't you could have a bubble that doesn't hold up when you need it."
He looked at the boy in front of him,
