No, actually, Katherine was about to be real. Her own competitive side was kicking in. Her anger was rising. WHO was he, even?! A spoilt Slytherin boy who was probably - oh no. Nononono. No. He was flirting with her, wasn't he? He must have seen her during the feast and/or charms, and this was his way of drawing her attention. All the signs were there: the grin, the obsessive stalking, the heroism in the means of jumping weirdly to intercept her balls, the cheeky attitude... she wasn't that stupid, just so he knew. And she certainly was NOT that kind of a girl who looked for a boyfriend this young - she would have one when she graduated. She wasn't about to throw away her academics for him. And she wasn't that stupid to engage in any kind of conversation with him during the lesson either; she had already made Professor Flamsteed yell at her once. No, she would deal with him after class - if he didn't become more obsessive.

The Hufflepuffs didn't even have any balls left, though; she wasn't going near the Gryffindors and she certainly wasn't going near HIM. So... that was it, then?
