Her efforts were followed by a clicking sound, and the cabinet opened. She retrieved the box and held it up in pride ~~like they held up Simba in the beginning of The Lion King~~.

"LOOK, THORNTON!" she said. "I DID IT!"

The Ravenclaw was no stranger to his name being mispronounced, shortened, or just plain forgotten, so he tried to be good about other people's. Thornton smiled at the girl's success, as well as her enthusiasm for his prefect badge, still holding onto his small box. This was a much more positive prefect experience than anything else so far.

"To lock it back up, you'll use Colloportus. The wand movement is like this..." Thornton drew the shape in the air with his wand much more slowly than one would cast, having learned from the previous attempt.

While Charms was easily Thornton's best subject, teaching it clearly was not. But he was certainly going to try. "Watch.."

And with a precise wand movement and a clearly spoken incantation, Thornton had locked the cabinet.
