Female staring was more than fine.
...well maybe he was not staring. Raven he thinks the kids name was. Don't ask how he remembered that. He can barely remember what he had for breakfast this morning. "You want to buy some sweets or looking for a place to sit?"
Could be plenty of other reasons.
But eh
Only one person would bop him on his head and that was Prefect Dot. Nobody would dare he hoped. Though he did not care. A bit taller, he thought he actually got a lot taller. He was taller than Maddie and she kept calling him Little Barrington. Which he still constantly found amusing. Dante smiled and answered her series of questions.
"Nice to see you are off to a good rambling start with questions. Would you believe me if i said i was afraid of spider monkeys and only a bit taller. So nice of you to notice."
Now all he needed was to grow another inch or two and look down on everyone. It will be amusing and since his brother and father are tall. It is a good chance. In spite of the fact that Dante wore his 'too cool for school' all over his dumb face, he was not, in fact, too cool to follow the rules. And rule number one? Don't flout it in front of the prefect! "Could you not sell candy to the ickles in public? At least have a little tact. Break rules in closets and dark corners, and NOT sitting next to her at the feast.
He couldn't earn any ill will from her, though, when he took her rambling in stride so well. She was tempted to muss his hair, but restrained herself. "I don't ramble. I always get where I intended to go. And you're not allowed to grow any more... and what's so scary about spider monkeys? That's weird, Dark Dante." Quote:

She glances at the table seeing a few first years looking nervous and she remembered that exact feeling when she first came to Hogwarts. It was a lot to take in a first, but instead of being helpful...Cordelia wanted to see what these first years would do.
As she sat silently, she had looked over to the other end of the table and remembered last term after her encounter with someone that she burst right through and ran right to the table balling her eyes out. She looked away from the end of the table and ran her fingers through her hair. New term. Different Cordelia. New term. Different Cordelia...come on girl enough thinking about the past. You're a sixth year now so act it! Roommate alert! Dot grinned at Cordelia and gave her fellow sixth year a finger wiggle wave. "Welcome back! Hope you had a good summer." Ugh, she'd been trying so hard to avoid that platitude, but it just kept popping out. There was literally NO good answer for it, and it made people feel like they had to tell you their life stories.
She should hurry it along so Cordelia didn't feel like she had to explain her summer. "Dante's afraid of spider monkeys. Ridiculous, isn't it?" Quote:

Of course he had, that should not be surprising. Olly suddenly remembered that the Slytherin boy prefect had graduated last term, which meant there would be a new one. Someone a fifth, sixth, or seventh year? Olly peered down the table, but the only one who fit that description so far was Dante and he was noticeably badge free. Inheriting an underground candy business was probably not high on the list of things that would earn someone said prefect badge. Olly refocused on Dot. "Who's your co-prefect this year?" "Olly!" It was her ickly Olly Bean! Dot let him squish her, and she happily squished him back. Even if he was ages older than her own little brother, Olly was a Bubba surrogate for her. Someone to dote on and adore and spoil, and probably poison from glitter consumption... but no. Olly was smart enough not to eat glitter. Or lipstick. Wasn't he? She gave him a searching look before letting him go.
"I missed you too. I hope you had grand adventures, and we'll have to plan some of those for ourselves this term. My friends and I always plan adventures... do yours?" Because that was the point of living... trying stuff. Failing, trying something else, being alive every second of it.
As for fellow prefect... Dot glanced up the length of the table, but no sight of him. "Hugo. He's that blond fifth year who looks like Asgard spit him out. Too handsome to be allowed."
