The first thing Evie wanted to do was look back a couple years and find her brother's entry. When she asked him if he had written in it, Milton told her not to look because it was probably embarrassing, but that just made her want to find it even more. Flipping the book back several pages, Evie scanned through the entries until she finally found Milton's messy handwriting. It was short and sweet (kind of), just like she expected it to be. And it was funny, as she also expected. Also, what was this story about getting knocked out by a coconut in a hurricane? She'd have to ask him about that.
With a satisfied smile, Evie flipped back to the more recent entries. She recognized Benzi's handwriting and was tempted to not even read it, but her curiosity was too strong, as usual. She skimmed over some parts ('cause damn, it was long), but she caught a glimpse of her name and her eyes were drawn down the page. 'See you soon.' Evie smiled faintly at the simple words. Yes, she would be seeing him soon.
Another sigh and Evie picked up the quill. She only had a faint idea of what she wanted to write, but she knew she wanted to keep it short.
Pursing her lips, Evie stared at her entry for a minute. It was short, like she wanted it... and it would do. She set the quill down and left the room, ready to finish the night with her classmates. |
