Having to carry someone on their shoulders and list off a bunch of people that really didn't matter much was hard work. All she had to do was throw out some names and stand there.

And another job of hers was apparently holding his candy bag ransom. Ugh. So that was how she was going to be. Lame. Like they actually needed the satisfaction of crossing that finish line. Wasn't the candy they had good enough? She could've just jumped off, hand over the candy, and be done. But no. The Slytherin had to make things more difficult than they really had to be.

But the blond started moving his feet again and worked his way up to a sprint, not caring if Brooklyn managed to balance herself on his shoulders or not. This half of the giant was ready to be done. He was ready to devour some candy and not have anyone standing on his nagging shoulders any longer.

They were now about a quarter of the way there ... then halfway ... three-quarters ... the finish line was only a few inches away ... AND THE LINE HAD BEEN CROSSED!

"Oh, thank Merlin!" Frankie purposefully moved his body in a way that surely would have made the girl lose her balance and fall to the floor if he was lucky. It was time to get off of his shoulders. No more freeloading. They successfully completed the activity and managed to do it without murdering each other. "You're welcome. Now, hand over my candy," he said with a held out his hand, waiting with full intentions of going to the opposite side of the room to enjoy his goodies in peace.
Well, she hadn’t expected him to sprint to the finish line. Although, Brooklyn was proud of herself for adjusting just enough that she stayed on his shoulders the whole distance. Falling might have been problematic anyway, considering on one side she had the candy and the other there was the crystal vial in her pocket with the stuffed birds. But she was proud of herself either way, although she had honestly questioned if Frankie had been intentionally trying to knock her off. She wasn’t letting him accomplish that no matter how hard he tried. Besides, there was still the matter of the candy. She had it. He didn’t. That meant he had to be nice to her at least for as long as she chose to keep it.

As he’d tried throwing her off yet again, she neatly leaped to the side and landed on her feet, using her ballet skill to manage it at least mostly gracefully. It wasn’t exactly the best attempt, but she’d stayed on her feet. That was an accomplishment.

She’d sent him a look as he’d said she was welcome. As if she’d thanked him, when she didn’t have any reason to thank him. The Grey Lady had told him he had to carry her. It wasn’t as if she had asked. Therefore, she didn’t need to thank him. She was tempted to just walk off at that, but instead, she tilted her head slightly to one side to watch him. And his hand, which she fully expected to try and reach for her pocket at any moment. “What do I get for giving you the candy?,” she asked instead, her hand in her pocket just as an added precaution. She didn’t see any reason to make it easy, not when he’d tried to toss her to the floor like a sack of potatoes seconds earlier.
