"But why would you want to do such a job though professor?" he asked, really wondering what kind of hardships a person may have to want to have a job so tiring. Quote:

It might also be best if postmen/women didn't have families. Because they had to work even on holidays, right? So yeah. But she didn't say that aloud. It was kind of SAD. Patience was a great answer and one she'd expected to hear several times. It was definitely one of the most apparent personality traits of a person doing a profession like this. "Those of you that mentioned patience were right on the money. Dealing with traffic, crowded sidewalks, disgruntled customers, and unappealing weather conditions can definitely take a toll on a person. Being patient and taking each of these things as they come in a calm manner is something that would certainly be beneficial when doing a job like this one." SPOILER!!: Affable Quote:

Some people can be really freaking rude early in the morning and you're the one who's gotta deal with that in a mature way or whatever."
Nobody wanted a grumpy person to deliver their mail? Thank Merlin Grayson wasn't thinking about being a postman, then. Quote:

Which was why Ophelia would never end up working as a mailmen. No matter what her sister said when the kid didn't try in school or got bad grades. Quote:

He raised his hand. "You should probably be social and personable. No one wants a grumpy mailman," he explained. He could only imagine how awkward that would be... Quote:

At least, not with a smile on their face. Which was why Heather could never do it. The first time a dog chased her, she would be so over it. The job that was. Man, mail carriers had to be nuts! No one wanted to deal with a grump and when you encounter as many people as those delivering the mail did on a daily basis, being personable was extremely beneficial. "Being affable is certainly an ideal trait when working at a job like this one. Not only does it make the people and animals one might come into contact with more at ease, but it makes the job more enjoyable for the person doing it." SPOILER!!: Capable Quote:

There were other things she could think of, but she didn't want to list them all. Quote:

He raised his hand and said, "Professor I know you need like a problem solving type of brain. Sometimes the mailman could have a package that has the wrong address and it is up to the mailman to know what to do." I mean Kace has gotten wrong packages and mail before that he needed to send back. Quote:

"I think you have to be a really fierce person to be a postal worker," she said. "Putting up with all those dogs and the harsh weather? That doesn't sound like a job for the faint at heart."
It also didn't sound like a job for Kate. She didn't think she'd like to ride around and visit everybody's house in the whole neighborhood and have to put up with their pets, too. She just liked to be on the receiving end of the whole mail business. Quote:

Not David, that was for sure. Quote:

"They have to have a good sense of direction, so they don't get lost when they're looking for houses." She imagined it would be very easy to get lost if they were just sent to search for a house. They would need a good map or something. What if they did get lost? Then you'd never get your mail and they would get fired or something. Owls rarely got lost, they were just better all around. All kinds of things went into being a capable post person and Meredith was pleased with the range of answers falling into this category. "Intelligence, adaptability, empathy, comfort with risk, and being physically prepared all fit under the category of being capable. This is certainly a trait you'd want to have when working in a profession like this one." Quote:

"I think being energetic and wanting to be on the move is definitely a trait you'd want to have if you were to go into a role like that of a post person. Very good." Quote:

Like always. Meredith did chuckle this time. Kid was a cutie pie and really, his answer was pretty adorable. Moxley just wanted to go over and give him a big old mama bear squish but she refrained. Instead answering cheerfully, "I like your enthusiasm, Mr. Toussaint! They are indeed awesome for putting up with all they do in order to deliver letters and parcels to people expecting them." As for Mr. Whitlock, the brunette glanced in his direction and back at the third year. Being a role model was an important job, did the older boy know? Better be a good one. SPOILER!!: Quiet ones Quote:

Unskilled manual labourer? Dog chow? Unfortunate shorts with socks and sandals wearer? Possible nosy parker who might read your personal correspondencerer? No she wasn't exactly impressed by the notion of this particular muggle job, and the face she made, which was rather like she had smelled something unpleasant, made that clear enough.
Plz. No. No future husband, boyfie, friend, or associate of HERS would be a postie. Thanks for your application but no thanks. Quote:

Heh. Gabe wasn't convinced.
He didn't have a thing to say this go around, thanks. Quote:

Patience, physical fitness, charisma....all already said. UMM. The third year bit her lip and wracked her brain for something creative to say. Struck with sudden inspiration, she put her hand in the air and offered, "They probably can't have bad allergies, if they're outside and around dogs all the time." Boom. Nailed it. This was certainly something she hadn't considered, though not having allergies wasn't exactly a personality trait. Still, she appreciated the effort and the fact that this was a unique answer. "Allergies would make the job difficult indeed, Ms. Kittredge." SPOILER!!: Puck Quote:

What personality traits would make a good postman? Or woman? Puck thought for a minute before raising her hand again. “I’m not sure if it’s a trait exactly but someone that likes physical activity and enjoys being active as they would have to carry the parcel bags around and I have heard that those can be rather heavy.” Really. What did people put in those letters anyway? This one was mouthy, huh? Meredith raised her eyebrows at the grumbling and would've commented if the girl hadn't spoke up right after so that she could properly hear what was being said. "Perhaps next time leave out the dramatic hand gestures then, Ms. Greyvson. It's hard to take someone's answer seriously when they're doing things like that." But her apology was accepted.
As for her answer to the question about personality traits, Meredith nodded. "Very good. That would fall under the capable category." SPOILER!!: Toby Quote:

"And they'd need to be super trustworthy, 'cause mail is usually important and private and personal. You need to know that someone who's bringing that to people's doors can be trusted." Which, y'know, Toby didn't think would be a problem. He couldn't think of a single person that he knew today who he wouldn't trust to bring him a note or letter or package without opening or stealing it. But he figured it was still a suitable answer, even if a little redundant 'cause OF COURSE nobody would do such a thing anyway. Mr. Tempus brought up a good point and one that would transition them nicely into the next part of class so Moxley gave him a kind smile and an approving nod of her head. "Being dependable is certainly a trait I'd hope my postman or postwoman had, especially when dealing with important and personal letters and parcels. Being able to trust those dealing with your items is extremely important. Very good!"
Pausing to write the categories she'd just discussed on the board, Meredith underlined each and checked the time quickly. Yup, they needed to move on.
Clapping her hands together, the brunette stood in front of her desk again and eyed the group. "I'd like everyone to get up from their seats and move to the front of the room. I'm going to do a little reorganizing and I think it best if you're out of the way." Didn't want anyone being hit by a table! "While you're standing up here, I'd like you to find a partner! Someone you feel you can trust would be best." Dependability was important as she'd just mentioned. "Alright, you lot. Let's get a move on!"
