Cutty's stone-face turned upwards a bit when Culloden's own pulled something like...relief, was it? Yes. He seemed to have a weight lifted off his shoulders. Why? Was he serious when he said he didn't want to think Cutty capable of having hit Sophie with the spell purposefully?
This was lost on Cutty at the moment. The idea that he had anything to lose. He'd wrtitten Cosgrach Culloden off long ago.
