But for one of my favorites, I'd have to say the Narnia books. That might be breaking the "one" rule since it's seven books, but I love them all and can't pick just one favorite

I'd say the best way to get involved is to jump right in!
This post in the Newbie Guidelines is a great outline of all the basics of the RP areas around SS, so be sure to check out all the links there to get started. The Knockturn Alley RPG and Diagon Alley areas are the best places to begin RPing right now since the Hogwarts and Ministry sortings are currently closed. They're both different RP areas but both equally as fun. And for DA, once you have your RP character created, you can
post here to ask someone to RP or just go ahead and post somewhere for someone to claim. You can also VM me too if you want, and I'll be happy to RP with you too
