Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent My, my.. someone was awfully sensitive. Really, one would think that to lead a department that came under such public scrutiny that a thicker skin would be in order, but it wasn't something Mariel was all that concerned with at the present moment. She glanced back in Emily's direction before returning her attention to the man about to take her statement. "On the contrary. I find efficiency very convenient.. fortunate, even." That had been her original sentiment. But it also came as a testimony to how accurate some of Jorge's articles were. "I just feel that this whole thing is being far blown out of proportion when I don't think he belongs here in the first place." And if she wanted to take that remark personally too, so be it. It wasn't intended as any sort of reflection on her, but Mariel was beyond frustrated at this point and just wanted to take Jorge home.
Taken care of quickly.. yes, that's exactly what she wanted and she lent the man in front of her the faintest of smiles. Now she was getting somewhere. "That would suit me just fine, thank you," she said, giving him a slight nod as he gestured back to where she had been sitting a moment ago and she walked back over to take a seat. Waiting for Mr. Tamerlane to join her in a quiet corner, the brunette took a deep breath as she thought over the events."Mariel Morgan.. Department Head of Magical Games and Sports," she first identified herself for the man. "Alright," she finally began as she collected her thoughts. "I was on my lunch break at a muggle cafe when I got in line at the counter to get some more coffee before I headed back to work. While I was waiting, one of your coworkers, Simon.." Something.. did she ever know his last name? "Came up behind me and we engaged in conversation for a few minutes. We had been acquainted before today and he was congratulating me on my recent promotion. Then, he started hinting around about asking me out." She shook her head a bit at this. Of course she was flattered but he had to know that it wouldn't have happened. "I started to question him about it since he wasn't being very straightforward and it was at this time that the man you have in custody, Jorge Cristo De La Garza, came over. I believe that he was on a working lunch." She didn't really know for certain unable to really speak much to him, but it had been deduced from certain things said and observed. "Because he had been at another table and the location of my own table, I actually was not aware of his presence until I had gotten in line and I don't know that Simon knew that he was there at all until he came over." Would he have tried to ask her out if he had known? She wasn't sure but maybe it would have saved a lot of trouble. "Anyway," she continued, "Jorge and I have been dating for some time and I believe he either heard Simon's attempts or saw my questioning reaction which prompted him to come to my defense. Angry words were exchanged between the two of them, which continued to escalate. Simon brought up some very.. personal information that he had been aware of." She shifted in her seat uncomfortably. "It was something very upsetting to me and I reacted with some words of my own. Simon's words and my visible upset in turn upset Jorge and he shoved Simon as he basically told him to mind his own business. It was then that Simon grabbed a hold of Jorge's arm and twisted them both behind his back, making his intention clear that he meant to arrest him. I protested of course, but he soon took him out of sight. And here we are." She gestured with her hands a bit at her last words. Not really a reason to place someone in a cell, in her opinion, and now she wanted him out.
