Northern Line of the London Underground The abandoned stations along the Northern Line have been reclaimed for use by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. It's dark down there!

Default Stairs down to the Main HQ (Reception)

The old above ground Cranley Gardens Station entrance is not the most inviting you will see. It's boarded up and fenced off facade leaves little to be desired and that isn't enough to deter the general public then the ancient Under Construction, Caution and Keep Out signs ought to do the trick. Muggle repelling charms are of course used in the area, and barring that, security is plentiful.

All other routes along the abandoned section of the Northern Line into MLE Headquarters have been sealed, so prepare to give your legs a thorough workout should you want to make the trip to the underground. Beyond the main entrance and through triple doors, white fluorescent lights guide the path down old concrete stairs deep into the underground. It's easy to see the space hasn't been used by the general public in its long history and the polished concrete, while old, still has a new sheen to it.

At the bottom of the staircase, you'll fine the unusual alcove which has been designated as the site of the future apparition zone - once it's up and running of course. Further down - quite long way down in fact, the makeshift MLE reception desk greets you, and beyond that further down the line you'll find the communal work area and the heart of the DMLE. All the regular processes are still in place, so be sure to check in with Muriel, our ever-patient receptionist, for assistance and ensure you acquire a visitors permit before taking a trip down the Northern Line.

This space is usually guarded, or at the least, observed with keen eyes.

OOC: Our receptionist is a NPC (non-playable character) by the name of Muriel. She's efficient and quiet (because obviously theres nobody RPing her! If you address her nobody will respond.) If your character is here to visit with a DMLE employee, you can feel free to post on through to the appropriate area, (just make sure you start by coming through here!) Alternatively if you wish to create your own RP, report a crime or anything like that, feel free to PM the Department Head and we can try to figure something out for you! If nobody responds to you in due time, please send a PM or VM to one of the active employees!

Ah yes. THIS was much better. Now that he wasn't breathing in the toxic fumes of sewer water, rat feces and....urine? Anyway. Now that he wasn't breathing in all that rubbish he was able think a bit more clearly. But all these taller than him even if partly in his mind women and just thinking about what was at the bottom of those stairs was enough to make his skin crawl right off the bone.

Not to mention how much his tiny as a pea ego was being bruised by the fact that Tori of all people just strut her way down the stairs like it was no big deal.

"I believe I have the right to visited my own employee while he is being held," he replied, while also sort of asking at the same time because he hadn't exactly had to deal with any of his staff being this stupid before. Good reporters never got hauled off by Law Enforcement. Should have been stealthy enough to be avoided. Merlin. "So I can figure out what to do with him after." Short pause. "And she told me to come." He pointed towards the redhead.

And hey, if this other woman was willing to pay the bail then all power to her. He wouldn't be wasting a knut of the Prophet's galleons on the bloke.

Ohohoho, no, it wasn't TORI's fault the police brutality had brought them here today. It was the MLE's fault. It was this Emily woman and that Simon lad's fault.

"Mhmm," Tori piped up finally. "We're here to ensure that none of Jorge's rights are being violated while he's in your custody. We were on a work assignment when he was provoked by your employees." She raised her eyebrows at the Emily woman. "He's safe and sound, right? In perfect health? I think we ought to be allowed to check."

So like, let them in to see the Spaniard already.

Mariel followed Emily's gaze up the stairs to the man inching his way down, arching an eyebrow as she watched for a moment. Bubble Head Charm? Seriously? That was a bit.. extreme, was it not?

She also wanted to know Skeeter's intentions for coming here as well, though she didn't exactly find it her place to ask. But being as it was the right of the MLE Head to know the man's business, Mariel simply listened as he answered her. What to do with him after.. She wasn't so sure she liked the sound of that and the brunette gave him something of an appraising look as she considered his words. The man wasn't debating job security over this? Not that Jorge's job was exactly Mariel's business either, but she had to wonder how much Miss Bunbury had told him or how likely Skeeter was to jump to conclusions. Being provoked to push someone was hardly a reason to have one's employment questioned. She thought for a moment what she would do if one of her own was in the same situation.

Maybe she could smooth things over a bit before they escalated any further, for she did not care for his tone of voice in the slightest. "I do hope you haven't felt you wasted a trip out here, Mr. Skeeter," she called towards the top of the stairs somewhat, affecting a professional smile. "I had every intention of taking care of the arrangements myself." She figured at least that part would be a simple matter, then Jorge could see to whatever story he wanted out of it, because there certainly was one to be had. Provoking someone enough until they snapped and then arresting him. Certainly sounded like entrapment to her and she knew she wouldn't be the only one to see it that way. And she would be slightly surprised if his boss didn't see personal gain. But surely any discussion could wait until he was released?

She turned her eyes back to Emily again as she explained the process and she listened with interest, nodding a bit to show she understood. Taking statements, paperwork, bail.. good, didn't sound like much more before she could take him out of here. This whole thing was ridiculous and she really didn't know how it had gotten to this point. But she also knew that at this point, the best thing to do was to cooperate civilly to get everything straightened out as quickly and efficiently as possible. "Right.. I'm prepared to post bail. I can take care of that as soon as it's set." It couldn't be too much, right? Not for a couple shoves, she wouldn't think.. but it didn't matter, she would pay it to get him out of whatever cell they had him in. The brunette pushed the fleeting thought of what the conditions would be like out of her head.

And statement? "Oh, of course. I'm happy to provide a statement. I guess I expected that." Well, was happy the word? She wasn't happy about any of this, but yes, she had every intention of giving her account of the incident. "I could do that now if it helps speed things along." Though she wasn't sure who she'd be speaking to, Emily or some third party who was not witness to accounts. Didn't matter, she just wanted to get things taken care of.

Green eyes wandered to the redhead again as she spoke up. Mariel did hope the same as she had wanted the girl to go on ahead of her to ensure that. "I do trust that he's being taken care of properly while he's here?" She turned her eyes back to her fellow Department Head. Mariel felt fairly confident that Emily would see to fair practices and procedure following, but she wasn't with him now. She wasn't sure who was with him and that made her a little concerned. "Might I see him?"

Why did it not surprise her that the Editor in Chief was an impressionable fellow? It really was no wonder that the Prophet's standards had dropped, it was nothing more than a trash rag now, playing make-believe and thinking it was publishing news. What they published was not news, it was nothing more than a sound board for whingers and whiners - perhaps the only useful thing they'd done was publish Rusty's please date me article, the one that she had so diligently initiated. Excellent idea on her part, truly. "I didn't realise your staff commanded you," she mused thoughtfully before shrugging it off. As for what to do with De La Garza, that much was obvious, no need to see him for that... but... "You can see him once we're done with him. So by all means, sit tight and make yourself at home."

The redhead was becoming increasingly annoying. There was something in her manner and way of speaking that reminded her of children. Her insistence at checking De La Garza is what did it, those questions, so persistent. Dogmatic. "He's fine, and Ms. Morgan and Mr. Skeeter will be allowed to see him in due time..." she on the other hand would not. This was the DMLE, not a zoo. There would be no audiences and staring and gawking or petting. No. "You're welcome to wait in reception in that time." Or leave. Those were her only options. "And of course, we'll need your statement too," Emily added her tone kindly though the faintest smile she wore was completely fake.

With a nod and a head tilt in Muriel's direction, Emily then turned her attention back to Mariel. Mariel, Muriel, why did they have to be so similar? Hhhmmm? "One of my staff will be over shortly, you'll be in good hands," she informed, ignoring the whole discussions between the Department Head and the Prophet Man in regard to posting bail. She didn't care who paid it, so long as it was done or the man stayed in his cell.

By now, Vic came to work in his jeans, a T-shirt and a leather jacket. Why the heck should he wear a suit when they were in a tunnel doing almost nothing, huh? He took it out on his outfit. When Muriel showed up, though, Vic lurched himself at her and took the liberty to HUG the reluctant lady. FINALLY!

He contained himself then, cleared his throat and walked behind her to the reception area.

Quite the crowd they got here, huh? Did they have a serial killer in their cells that he didn't know about? Or was it all about that ill-mannered journalist? If yes, then wow. He wasn't the only one who had lots of free time on his hands, it seemed.

Vic offered smirks to anyone who looked his way but he headed towards Emily. "Ms. Boss." He gave her a you-needed-me look.

CMEC rarely had gotten much along the line of specific assignments even in the best of times, and during the relocation, even less. They hadn’t even had the cases from before the lockout, so Dorian had taken to just showing up to the Underground to make sure that things were going fine. Anna seemed to be working alright with Blaise and security detail, he hadn’t seen Elinor lately, and that was about the extent of his workers. Hanging around oddly reminded him of the campout in Level Two back during the cult incident, if just because the temporary department wasn’t exactly comfortable. He wasn’t about to bring his espresso machine down, either. Stops at the café worked just as well for those purposes, and he’d had his usual cup in hand as he’d wandered over toward “reception” at the sound of trouble. That was the one advantage to everyone being on top of each other. Noises carried down in the tunnels, and he was there. Might as well see if he could help out in any way, and he’d sen Vic heading over as well.

Walking up behind the Wizengamot director of prosecution, he nodded toward Emily and the small crowd gathered there. “Emily,” he said neutrally, grey eyes taking in the odd appearance of the small man using the Bubble-head charm, along with the two women. Things were so slow that they were getting visits from other departments? He’d recognized the brunette from the training session as a department head, anyhow. Other than that the visitors were just intriguing, even with the knowledge that there was a Prophet reporter in holding. If anything, he was there to support Emily. He had respect for the girl that had extended from before she was his department head, after all, and if people were causing problems, he wouldn’t hide in the shadows. If she wanted him to do anything, he was there.

Muriel was incredibly efficient, which was why she'd forbidden the woman from retiring anytime in the foreseeable future. No sooner had she spoken that two of her finest joined them in the reception area. The arrival of Vic and Dorian only cemented her appreciation for her department and its people, they were good people, and made the job all the more worthwhile. "Aaahh, Mr. Bones, Mr. Tamerlane, excellent timing," she mused, making them known to those who were present. "Would you two gentleman mind assisting in taking the statements of Ms. Morgan and Mssss---- ....." whatsherface... what was her face? Hhhmm? Ginger? "--ter Skeeter's employee?" Reporter, fairytale writer, personal assistant, whatever she was, it didn't matter. "There's been an incident involving one of our own," she added, selecting her words carefully, her tone perhaps indicating her distaste in the matter. They were impartial, let them take the statements. There was a difference between her employees and Daily Prophet reporters.... her people, didn't write fiction.

Bubble Head Charm was working, well, like a charm (ha!) and he could already feel his nerves relaxing a little as the clean air filled his lungs. It didn't help much with the whole walking down the stairs and into the dark pit of disgusting though.

"Having to come out on an errand like this will always be a waste of my time," he replied to the Games and Sports Head. Weren't women supposed to keep their men on short leashes? His ex-wife had always done so to him and clearly anyone who could put up with Jorge's ginormous ego had to be a strong woman, yeah? Or maybe he was overestimating her. Or underestimating Jorge. Or something. Either way he was NOT pleased about being here. "But as his boss I would rather hear about this all now rather than after."

Like after he had been bailed out and heard what would surely be skewed version of the story with lots of finger pointing. Jorge was good at doing that. Why he made a decent journalist.

"Bunbury!" he replied to the terrifying MLE Head. Seriously, could she BE any more intimidating?

And now there were more people coming...and none of them seemed to be the person that was supposed to be his personal escort. At least it seemed that Browne was giving them each a personal tour guide. Just HOW dark and disgusting was it down there?!

"So....can I go head and...." he questioned while taking his first real step down a proper stair.

Vic was glad Dorian joined in. He respected the man and considered him one of the few non-paranoid smart people around here, he could do the serious work in this silly case while he, Vic, went after personal goals with the Daily Prophet people. And there was a kid journalist? That was a bonus!

The man who looked about he was going to drop dead any moment was the Daily Prophet chief? Interesting. Vic thought that writers and artists were supposed to look weird and act odd, that was the price of being a genius, right? Right.

Nodding at his boss, Vic smiled at the red head and gestured for her to come with him, "This way, Ms. Bunbury, please." Taking statements was a piece of cake. He had other things to ask of the journalist after that was done.

Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

It was beginning to look like a big ol' party down here as Saul entered the dank looking make-shift Reception Room. The look of discomfort on his face was apparant, and his posture was slouched. Hands in his jean jacket's pockets, and a beanie covering a messy puff of black curls. The IUMO Head neared them all and stood just at the back of everyone. He nodded a thanks to the Receptionist for the message, then spoke up. "Heard I was needed for a small task." If it was to get him out of this Hell Hole Saul's mood would brighten slightly. His Division was lacking in Man-Power as of late. So he had been picking up some slack, and looking over a few Animagus cases to pass his time.

Not quite sure what else to do with himself Saul took a hand out of his pocket holding his pair of thick-rimmed glasses and placed them on his face. He then gave a small nod to his co-workers Vic and Dorian, who seemed to be well invested into the topic at hand.

Mariel raised an eyebrow at Skeeter.. was he still at the top of the stairs? The more he spoke, the more she decided that her 'jumping to conclusions' theory was likely accurate. This was already turning into a much bigger deal than it needed to be and she didn't really get why he couldn't wait till Jorge was released especially when he certainly did not contest her intention to post bail. He did know how minor this was? "Oh, I'd be inclined to agree," she answered in his general direction over his waste of time, still wearing her professional smile. "Especially over something so trivial as a few angry words and a little shove... but I suppose that's your prerogative." And yes, admittedly, she would probably flip if one of her own employees got arrested on their lunch break, but she would hope not to be throwing around phrases that implied threatened job security without at least hearing all the facts.

Green eyes drifted back to Emily as she spoke and Mariel felt a bit of relief at hearing the words he's fine. She had been somewhat worried after Jorge left her sight, unsure of exactly what would happen, simply counting on the professionalism of the staff. And after recent events, professional would hardly be a word she would use to describe Simon. But things seemed to be moving along now and she nodded again as the MLE Head expressed that one of her employees would be of assistance.

The brunette would have preferred to see Jorge first, but it didn't look like that was going to happen, so she made her way to one of the chairs in the area and took a seat. She didn't have to wait long before not one.. but two.. and then three employees showed up. Mariel simply stared at them all for a moment in disbelief. Three employees. Three. That many people could be spared to work on the simplest of assault cases? When she worked in Quidditch regulations, it was her who had to go out to take care of fouls and violations. HER. And no one else. She was in charge of seeing to the rule-breaking of all thirteen of the professional teams all over the country.. and they did worse than pushing. She was quickly losing patience and in turn growing more and more irritated.

Jorge was right. He certainly wasn't a dangerous criminal and this is what they focused their energies on. Her professional smile was completely gone now as she heard one ask for Miss Bunbury, leaving the second for her statement. She didn't know what this third person was for.. to personally escort Skeeter down the flipping stairs, maybe. "Well, how lucky that it's such a slow day for Law Enforcement that provoking a man to push him garners so much attention," she said dryly as she rose to her feet. Whatever.. all this manpower might mean that things would go faster and she was all about getting this done immediately. Setting her eyes on the second person that had been introduced, Mariel stepped towards him. "Mr.. Tamerlane.." was it? "You can take my statement now." Here or elsewhere.. but now.

Her people were the exceptions to this, and thank Merlin they were so diligent and flexible to accommodate her/Muriel's summons. Emily emitted a low grunt to communicate her displeasure in addition to watching Skeeter take steps as if helping himself to her tunnels, never mind it was about time he got away from those stairs. Saul's appearance was also well timed, excellent, because she had errands to run also... which would be prudent, now. "Yes, thank you. Could you please take Mr. Skeeter to visit his employee Jorge De La Garza in the holding area please?" Cue polite but forced smile. Because she still didn't see why anyone would care to waste their time with the man.

It was then that Mariel's unsavoury words reached her ears, and all respect for the woman was shot to hell. That being said, she had perhaps been naive in thinking the woman was alright company, clearly this was not the case. The fact that she kept De La Garza as a companion should have been enough to tell her the woman was as much a disrespectful, arrogant time waster as the fiction spinning reporter. It was a good thing she hadn't gotten around to purchasing that coffee, or else she'd have been obligated to return the favour, and that wasn't going to happen now. "My staff do have other tasks to go on with, Ms. Morgan, so if their efficiency is such an inconvenience to you, I can dismiss them." Never mind she'd just summoned them for the purpose of speeding things up. Was she not in a hurry to get this over with? It was why she'd sent Muriel to begin with, to get this over with. Having undesirables in her reception area was one thing, allowing them to waste her time was something else entirely.

"Muriel, uncancel my four-thirty, and could you inform Ms. Newell I'd like words with her at her earliest convenience please? Thank you."

"You can take my statement now." Here or elsewhere.. but now.

At least there was one familiar part of MLE that hadn’t been taken from them. Dorian had never really interacted with Muriel much, but the receptionist had at least made things seem oddly a bit more welcoming down in the underground. Of course, it didn’t help much when they were dealing with reporters and craziness right there at their front doors, so to speak. There was a reason why he preferred staying away from the craziness, but he’d help Emily however she needed. Even if it left him open to attack. He wasn’t falling eight feet onto a stone floor or being forced to work at a party for a joke of a Minister, anyway, so this was a step up. He’d nodded again as Emily had spoken, subtly informing them of what he and Vic had been called over to do, before his grey eyes had taken in the arrival of Saul as well. Muriel had been working overtime, apparently. “Of course.” Taking a statement should have been relatively simple, and even quick. Although he wasn’t sure who had gotten the better angle, given the look the department head had given them as they had arrived. Their presence wasn’t a comment on the inefficiency of MLE in any way, and his own head’s response to the comment that had followed only proved that.

Looked like he was getting to deal with her, too, as Vic had led the redhead off toward the work area. This was going to be interesting, but he turned a cool gaze over to her as she’d addressed him. “That’s correct,” he answered with a nod, calmly addressing her question of his name. He may as well get the niceties over with, if she was so determined to get everything done now. Actually, there really wasn’t much politeness in the whole situation, but he wouldn’t let that influence him. She didn’t seem crazy, just entirely too focused on the well-being of the reporter that everyone had been so worried about being mistreated. Those of the Aurors he knew personally weren’t apt to take things rashly, so odds were nothing had happened. “Well, if you’d like to get things taken care of quickly, why don’t we just stay here? We don’t need to move just for a statement,” he added, just as professionally but with the slightest hint of politeness in his own voice as he directed her back to the chairs and summoned a notepad and quill from his desk. Behavior could change a person’s opinion, after all, and he was still aware of the presence of Prophet reporters. Plus, that way Vic could have his privacy for the redhead’s statement and they could all keep things unbiased. Hypothetically. He had a feeling there was quite a bit of bias in the small area. “Why don’t we just start at the beginning? Feel free to be as detailed as you feel necessary.”

Right an Escort....this would be a more interesting job if it were to anywhere else but their own Department that they were all currently standing in. Well it was a tad bit larger than their actual office, and this guy...the Bubble Head up there at the top, would probably get lost or go snooping for stuff to lie about in the Prophet. So maybe it was best to have himself escort this Bubble Head. "Sounds like fun." He said sarcastically as he reached his hand under his beanie, and began to scratch at his hair vigorously. He stayed put for a minute or two really having at his hair, letting his beanie fall from his head and his glasses nearly slipping off his face. "Hurry on down." Saul said his face scrunched in it felt like he was ripping hair off his own head.

My, my.. someone was awfully sensitive. Really, one would think that to lead a department that came under such public scrutiny that a thicker skin would be in order, but it wasn't something Mariel was all that concerned with at the present moment. She glanced back in Emily's direction before returning her attention to the man about to take her statement. "On the contrary. I find efficiency very convenient.. fortunate, even." That had been her original sentiment. But it also came as a testimony to how accurate some of Jorge's articles were. "I just feel that this whole thing is being far blown out of proportion when I don't think he belongs here in the first place." And if she wanted to take that remark personally too, so be it. It wasn't intended as any sort of reflection on her, but Mariel was beyond frustrated at this point and just wanted to take Jorge home.

Taken care of quickly.. yes, that's exactly what she wanted and she lent the man in front of her the faintest of smiles. Now she was getting somewhere. "That would suit me just fine, thank you," she said, giving him a slight nod as he gestured back to where she had been sitting a moment ago and she walked back over to take a seat. Waiting for Mr. Tamerlane to join her in a quiet corner, the brunette took a deep breath as she thought over the events."Mariel Morgan.. Department Head of Magical Games and Sports," she first identified herself for the man.

"Alright," she finally began as she collected her thoughts. "I was on my lunch break at a muggle cafe when I got in line at the counter to get some more coffee before I headed back to work. While I was waiting, one of your coworkers, Simon.." Something.. did she ever know his last name? "Came up behind me and we engaged in conversation for a few minutes. We had been acquainted before today and he was congratulating me on my recent promotion. Then, he started hinting around about asking me out." She shook her head a bit at this. Of course she was flattered but he had to know that it wouldn't have happened. "I started to question him about it since he wasn't being very straightforward and it was at this time that the man you have in custody, Jorge Cristo De La Garza, came over. I believe that he was on a working lunch." She didn't really know for certain unable to really speak much to him, but it had been deduced from certain things said and observed. "Because he had been at another table and the location of my own table, I actually was not aware of his presence until I had gotten in line and I don't know that Simon knew that he was there at all until he came over." Would he have tried to ask her out if he had known? She wasn't sure but maybe it would have saved a lot of trouble.

"Anyway," she continued, "Jorge and I have been dating for some time and I believe he either heard Simon's attempts or saw my questioning reaction which prompted him to come to my defense. Angry words were exchanged between the two of them, which continued to escalate. Simon brought up some very.. personal information that he had been aware of." She shifted in her seat uncomfortably. "It was something very upsetting to me and I reacted with some words of my own. Simon's words and my visible upset in turn upset Jorge and he shoved Simon as he basically told him to mind his own business. It was then that Simon grabbed a hold of Jorge's arm and twisted them both behind his back, making his intention clear that he meant to arrest him. I protested of course, but he soon took him out of sight. And here we are." She gestured with her hands a bit at her last words. Not really a reason to place someone in a cell, in her opinion, and now she wanted him out.

Eeeeeeeer, right then. He simply gave the G&S woman a nod. Of course she was inclined to agree, because he was right. Not that he was going to say as much out loud because he did not need a woman's claws coming out.

Taking a glance towards the man who would be his escort, Basil deeeeeeeeefinitely took a few steps away from the bloke when it was noticed how he was scratching like a mutt with fleas. See? THIS was precisely why he did not want to go down into that hole in the ground. The employees were turning into mangy sewer rats with disease and fleas.

"Don't suppose I can request someone else?" he muttered towards Browne as he ever so slowly passed her. He wasn't really expecting an answer from her, knowing in his head already what that response would be anyway, and instead continued to walk down the stairs like a baby unicorn taking its first steps until he had somewhat caught up with the fellow.

Do you know what Mutt also has? Exceptionally good hearing. The echo down hear also helped a little. "Oh no, I think..." He paused for a moment to pick up his beanie from the floor, while still scratching his hair furiously..."I can get you to the Holding Cells just fine."

He sat his Beanie back ontop of his hair and pushed down on it. "Weird Shampoo I borrowed this Morning. Not my normal stuff." He pushed his glasses back up to his face and turned his back to the reporter. "Let's be on our way." Especially since the G&S Head was giving her statement on this matter, and Saul was beginning to think this was a big waste of everyone's time.

Bugger.

And Basil was still going to believe that fleas were the real issue here. But...just in case... "You know, shampoo allergies occur as part of the inflammation response of the immune system and symptoms SHOULD go away when the shampoo is thoroughly rinsed out of the hair and off the scalp. Perhaps you should have taken more care in the shower this morning," he replied as he continued his timid reindeer walk down the stairs while taking extra care to NOT touch the railing. "Itching like you are doing now can be especially problematic because it's uncomfortable and because continuous scratching can result in lesions on the scalp that further can be aggravated by the allergy and can result in infection. In fact, maybe you should consider going to see a Healer about that."

Basil knew a lot about these things because...infections meant germs and germs meant BAD.

So he was going to stay a few more steps behind his escort as they made their way into the heart of darkness.

Mmm.... right.

Between Skeeter's mumbling, and Morgan's attitude, Emily was rather done with it all. And in fact, she was done with it all... almost. Anna had been on level...oh, no. Not level--the regular Ministry of Magic was closed for the time being. She had been at a stinky, abandoned boat yard seeing her husband about apparition zones. She'd get back to Emily about that later on.

For now, she decided to explore more of her own new work area, mainly the reception area, which sounded like a good crowd had gathered into. She made her way down the stairs and closer to the sound of the voices. Walking in, she heard Emily instructing Dorian to take someone to a holding area. Hmm...

She sort of hung back for a moment to get a grasp on what was going on.

Ms. Morgan hadn’t been speaking to him, yet Dorian had been tempted to respond to her little insistence that things were being blown out of proportion. He wasn’t entirely versed in Muggle law enforcement, but he seemed to recall instances of people being held for belligerence, t least until they calmed down. As far as he was concerned, having the reporter in holding was for everyone’s safety. Nobody was about to act rash here in the “department”, and he was certain that none involved had done so out of boredom. He knew Simon relatively well, and the younger man hadn’t ever seemed half as compulsive as, say, Carter regularly was. In any case, he held back from commenting, as the woman had obliged in his request and moved back to the seats to hopefully demonstrate that she could actually be efficient. He didn’t have all day either, after all, no matter how little he had by way of files regarding his division due to the lockout.

Following her over, he settled himself in a chair, shifting it enough so he was facing her simply for business purposes. He had given her a nod as she’d begun speaking, scribbling her name down in his notebook and turning his gaze back to her as her account of the situation unfolded. “Bennett,” he supplied, as she’d paused at Simon’s name, but for the most part he stayed silent, taking notes and otherwise keeping his attention on her. There wasn’t need to interrupt simply to disagree on points, and honestly, there wasn’t much to debate. To his ears, it seemed the reporter had asked for the treatment, had started the situation. Everything up to his involvement had seemed innocent, whether Simon had possibly been a bit misguided in his choice to ask her on a date. That wasn’t why they were there. The reporter’s rather overt animosity toward MLE was well noted, anyhow, so it was entirely possible this was due to happen eventually. She just felt the need to step in.

Writing a few final notes, he glanced over as he heard Emily addressing him. “Of course. It looks like we’re about done, anyway,” he replied, before turning his grey eyes back to Ms. Morgan. “Unless there’s anything else you’d like to add to your statement.” She’d seemed intent on making sure they weren’t mistreating the reporter, so he assumed she wouldn’t have much left to say and stood up again, noting Anna out of the corner of his eye sort of hovering at the entrance, taking stock of things like he knew she would. “If not, follow me and I’ll show you to where he’s being kept.” They weren’t barbarians here, even if they’d been relegated to the underground. He may as well prove that while they were there.

Oh were they done? It seemed as if Mr. Tamerlane was making that decision for her as she watched him rise from his seat and Mariel simply looked at him for a moment before standing herself. She did very much want to see Jorge and even more so take him out of this awful place but she wasn't so sure she got her real feelings across. Not that it probably mattered in the slightest. She was absolutely certain that this department would be biased on their viewpoints no matter what she said as their distaste for the man seemed to be well-known all because of a few stories that hurt their feelings or something. Who knew those in such a traditionally tough job would be so sensitive?

She gave the basic account of events though she still had some feelings on the matter. "I'd like it also to be known for the record that it was my personal opinion that Mr. Bennet.." Yeah, she really didn't care what his last name was, did Mr. Tamerlane think she did? "..provoked Jorge into pushing him. He could have kept his mouth shut, but he made it a point to say things that were certain to exacerbate the situation." And to be honest, if he had continued along that line of conversation before Jorge stopped him, she would have been hard pressed not to have slapped him. Then she'd probably be in a holding cell too because she now had no doubt in her mind that Simon would arrest a woman for such a thing. "So he certainly had his role in all of this." As in, he was hardly innocent. Though she was certain nothing would come of it and her statement was merely a formality.

"Yes, I'd most certainly like to see him now," she confirmed as she started to follow the man who had taken her statement. And then take him home, though she wasn't even sure that bail had been set yet. It was ridiculous that he was here this long let alone any longer.
