Min couldn’t help but laugh,
“Well Laura I don’t think you have a choice, you are going to be whether you like it or not. Plus you are going to rock seventh year. Those professors are going to notice what an amazing witch you are, but remember it’s your turn to start looking after the younger badgers. Make sure they are doing alright. Promise me that.” Not that they didn’t have others, but she remembered someone older than her giving her that advice and she hoped she lived up to it. It was now time to pass the torch to another.
Well she was happy the younger badger was happy to be going home and to spend time with family. This was a good thing since previous years she didn’t want to go home at all.
”Well I hope you have a great summer with them.” Laughing a bit as she talked about Dj,
“Of course you will, tell him I said hello alright?” She hadn’t talked to the boy in a very long time, but figured he was doing well since Laura seemed happy.
She smiled up at him as he spoke and chuckled a bit at the kiss.
“People are going to talk.. again.” She laughed and hugged her friend one more time.
“I don’t know about best, but you’ve put up with me pretty well. You did a great job as head boy.” She was a proud mouse, her best friend rocked the badge. Looking around,
“I still can’t believe this is it though.” but it really was and well she would get used to it. She bit her lip a bit thinking of Ethan. The excitement and fears all jumping around again.
“Umm.. yeah I think so. I’ll know more once home, but I’ll owl you and stuff. Plus you and Indy are coming to visit like all the time, right? Dinner at my place soon.” Of course those two would be over a lot or well she hoped they will.
“Keep me updated on your dad and the babies. I’d love to talk to him again about my mom one day.” She wanted to hear more if he didn’t mind.
Minerva was glad the sixth year or well seventh year was happy to be going home.
“That’s nice, any big plans?” She always enjoyed hearing what others were going to do with their summer. She honestly wasn’t even sure other than one major thing what she would be doing. She assumed just working and getting things accomplished as the summer went on. No time to really do much else. Her smile grew,
“Yes, I can’t wait.” She was getting more and more anxious to see him the closer time got to leaving. It had been since Easter and that was just too long. Giving the blonde a nod,
“I know Ella, thank you.” She knew they would still talk after this, but she just hoped it wouldn’t stay awkward like it had been the last few months.
Min listened to Brodie and gave a small smile,
“Yeah, but I don’t’ think it matters how much time you spend here. This place gets to you.” She never thought she’d be so attached to a place before. She had moved around so much as a child with her dad in the military and then being bounced from cousins to her grandparents. This was the only stable place she had ever lived in for so long. It was just odd thinking about never coming back. She listened more chuckling, her I told you at the ready, but then.. then he did something that made her swallow hard as tears started to form,
“It’s fine.. really, I’m just glad you finally saw the light and started enjoying instead of fighting what could be and holding on to anger.” She hugged him. Yes everyone Minerva Wheatborn hugged Brodie Livingston. She gave him a hug and then smiled,
“No need to thank me. One of my goals this term was to try and help one person. I’m glad I got that chance.” That actually made her night, she hoped he knew that.
Minerva smiled as he hugged her again and eyed him curiously with his yes/no answer. Her smile grew as he explained.
“You see that’s the trouble with being a first year. You will have an end of the term feast six times before it’s your turn and that’s six times you will see people you really don’t want to go, go. That doesn’t mean you’ll never see them again though. You can always owl me.” She was always open for owls and would try to stay in contact with anyone who wanted her too. When he asked about her own summer plans she thought for a moment,
“Well I’ll be working and just enjoying some summer events.” Was that the best way to explain what her summer was going to be like. Probably not, but the first year wouldn’t really understand. Oh that question again she sighed trying to think of the best answer,
“Well I will, just not in the fall. I’m taking some time off to deal with some family things. After that I plan on going to be a healer.” Did that make sense, well she hoped it did.
