Because that would not work out very well. Not that she was a naughty girl, but she knew her mommy wouldn't let her pick out lots of chocolates. Daddy would. Her daddy let her have whatever she wanted. But daddy wasn't here today unfortunately. She tossed her brunette hair over her shoulders as she wandered down the aisles. Then her eyes landed on the gumball machine. "Oh wow...." The nine year old beamed, before she skipped over to them. because she wanted some gumballs.
She frowned, having left her brother behind. She glanced over her shoulder, and beckoned him to come over. "Come on Frankieee." Because there mother was going to catch them soon and that was just not good at all. Frankie Paton didn't like shopping with his mommy and sister. They usually went to all the boring, girly places like the robe shop down the street or that smelly pink place just a few doors down. It was days like today when he wished that his daddy would pretend to be sick so he could come with them to the alley. Then he and his daddy could have gone to all the cool places and bought a lot of loud and slimy things that would annoy his sister. But, no, he was the only boy in the group today. If they made him play dress up with them again, he was going to be loud and throw a fit so they would have to take him home.
But right now he was running after his sister, who was heading toward the candy shop. Well, that seemed a lot better than doing girly things. But she was going too fast. “Slow down, Gracie!” Frankie yelled, moving as quickly as his short legs would let him. “Mommy won’t find us here. There's too many –” The blond boy stopped talking when he caught up with Grace at that weird machine. “I want one of those thingies!”
