When Max laughed, she finally let herself smile. “Me too,” she said, laying down close beside him. Letting out a sigh, she relaxed a bit. “I’m sorry for ruining everything by being such a klutz.” She said looking over to him. “And I’m glad you didn’t get hurt on account of me.” If he had, she would have been so angry with him. It was foolish of him to not let her fall on her own, but she had to admit, it was comforting knowing he was there. Excellent. She was alive, in one piece, and he was... living. Just very, very happy to be living at the present moment. "That's good." And it WAS.
As she laid next to him on the pitch, he found himself smiling up at the sky. But when she apologized to him, he turned his head quickly, frowning. "No. You didn't ruin anything. Never apologize," he said sternly, shaking his head. "...You were great." Cue genuine, cheesy smile. "I was far more worried about you getting hurt than I was about myself."
He tilted his head forward so he could look down at her hand between them. He took it in his hand and shook it to emphasize various words in his encouragement, "Em-ma-leeeigh." Lots of hand-shaking, as if that would somehow make her see the light. "I think you were a lot better than you think you were. I mean, let's think about this. You... got the broom to come right up to you. After a few more tries, it went even faster, didn't it?" He smiled, looking from her bright eyes to the sky. "Then... you mounted the broom and kicked off just fine. And you flew in a nice straight line. You even managed to stay on it while going really, really fast. So no real problems, yeah? And... you made good turns. It was just... y'know, the last. Too fast for now. But don't you feel like you did a lot today?" Maybe? Even a little?
"I don't think you're a klutz." Just a little unexperienced was all. He released her hand finally - he had just realized he was still holding it, and he almost tossed it aside as if he had been caught doing something he wasn't supposed to.
