This girl must have thought that she was quite gullible, her being a first year and all but there were just some things that you couldn't try pulling with her because she knew better. But here she brought up the argument of candy giving...very tempting...

"Oh well, hi there Damon, yeah I'm a first year--but I have common sense!" Older kids wouldn't get her to believe everything so easily. She felt the breath catch in her throat when he confessed that he had never given Taylor candy....
