Alyssa continued to look at the stick on the ground. Then it began to quiver before stretching out in length and width. It continued to do that and then it stopped....and right in front of her was a long straight stick. Alyssa thought that maybe the flat end was facing downwards, and so picked it up, but nope. All she had was just a stick. She had failed on her first attempt. Alyssa sighed and waved her wand at it and said "REVERTO" transforming the long stick back into the mini one that she had started out with.

Alyssa knew that she had taken things for granted. Just because the spell looked easy didn't mean that it was. She hadn't concentrated hard enough. So this time, she closed her eyes, and visualized the image of the paddle in her mind. A stick with a flat end at the end of it.

Once she had the image of the paddle in her mind, she took a deep breath and slowly let it out and then opened her eyes. She looked down at the small toothpick on the ground in front of her and visualized it being a paddle instead. Then she took out her wand, and with a wave of her wand, made a horizontal line finishing off with a loop at the end and said, "Te-Lea".

She held her breath as she watched the toothpick. For a second she thought that she had failed again but then the stick began to stretch again. It got longer and wider, and then as she watched, one end began to change and become broader and flatter than the rest of the stick. Alyssa watched as the small stick transformed into a paddle and when the transformation was complete, she let out a sigh of relief and picked up the paddle.

She examined the handle part before moving down to the paddle end. It was flat and broad. The perfect size for a paddle. Alyssa began practicing moving it around in front of her forming little figure 8's with it. She couldn't wait to get out into the lake to try out both her Coracle and paddle.
