Daichi's cheeks flushed red as he finally realised why the name Hutchinson was so familiar to him. "Are..are you family from Indy?" the snake asked as he looked at the gloved hand before taking it. If he was done Daichi hoped he could concentrate. Because no matter what lesson, the Slytherin's mind went to Indy and it made him feel all giggly inside. So if he WAS related he would keep thinking about their last name and and and... O____o
"I'm Daichi Katharos" he quickly spoke for he was afraid he would start smiling like a lunatic. It was really weird and the snake kept wondering why he had those weird feelings when Indy came in mind.
He eyed the plant with a half terrified half fascinating look before shaking his head no. "I think ducks are the cutest things in the world". And that was a fact! Ducks were the most awesomest coolest cutest fantastics! "Y-you can go first...i- i don't really like..you know..sharpy teeth and all..."
'Family from Indy'? Spike eyed the Slytherin boy curiously. "Of course. I'm her older brother," he replied, before shaking the boys hand. Slightly awkward, if dragon hide gloves, it had to be said. Letting go, he tilted his head and glanced across the greenhouse towards where Indy was happily working with her fanged geranium. "I take it you know her then?" Funny, since they were clearly not in the same year...
"Die-chy," Spike repeated softly, trying to get the pronunciation right. "Ducks are pretty cute," he agreed with a nod. "I'd rather go for Matilda, my pet tarantula, but ducks are okay." He brushed his fingers lightly through his curls to the spot where Matilda would usually be located. It felt odd her not being there after the summer, but it was safer when they were in class that she was kept safely in the dorms. "Mandarin ducks are pretty cool," he added after a short while. "The male ones, I mean. The female ones are kinda just normal colour-wise. But the males, now they're pretty showy."
Spike shrugged at the boy's reaction to the plant's teeth, and gave a small roll of his eyes. "It's fine, really," he said, taking hold of the brush in his left hand, and stroking the piranha plant comfortingly with his right. "Look..." And with that he started making gentle circular motions on the front teeth with the brush. "It's fine to start gentle, and work up so the plant isn't put into any discomfort...and you feel happy and safe."
Just like that.
Spike was a Pro. He loved these sort of plants. And Professor Bentley's encouragement only gave him more enthusiasm for them.
Happy with the two teeth he'd be working on, Spike held out the brush. "Wanna a go now?"
