The discussions were good and lots of interesting points were coming up. Althea continued the lesson onward.
"So some interesting points have been raised, and we'll return to that topic for homework. But we know that personality can be indicated by the Patronus form, so the question is, how does that relate to you? If you don't know your Patronus form yet, could you get an idea of what it might be in advance? What about by taking into account other disciplines like Arithmancy? Do your traits as indicated by your numbers match up with the traits your Corporeal Patronus? Some food for thought." She shifted slightly and leaned against one hand.
"There are a few books here about animal totems and their associated meanings." She began to pass the books around. "For those of you who can cast a Corporeal Patronus and know what form it takes, see if you can match up how it fits your personality. Younger students, you can work with students who do have a known Spirit Guardian, or you can look up mine, which is a Dove, or Headmaster Tate's which is a Mountain Goat, or that of another adult you know, even some of the historical figures we were discussing."
She smiled at them. "I'll give you ten minutes for this exercise and in the mean time if you have a question feel free to ask it."
As Professor Schirmer interjected a comment into her discussion with the others, Stella nodded to show she understood. That really did make sense, as she could imagine someone who was really gentle, personality-wise, would probably have difficulty showing an emotion like hate, violence, and the like. She hadn't really seen the need to say anything about it, though, as the professor had moved on to the other conversations going on around the room. Instead, she just went back to thinking about Patronuses in general, and specific ones that she knew of, including her own. Especially as the discussion of Headmaster Dumbledore from history having a Phoenix as his patronus, and the fact that some people did have mystical creatures.
She looked up again as the professor moved the lesson to a new activity, and a smile crept across her face. It seemed like her thoughts were going to come in useful, after all, even though she'd had a suspicion all along that they'd be addressing their own Patronuses. But first, research, and she was curious if the books the professor had were going to simply say the same things everything else she'd read about unicorns said. Purity, innocence... she knew it somewhat fit with herself, simply because Risa had always teased her about the fact. She didn't fault her best friend, though, and it also explained her disdain for the veelas and part-veelas that had been at Beauxbatons. She checked the book anyway, and stifled a giggle at what it said.
Definitely not that different from what she already knew, although the weather thing was intriguing. It made her think about her familial connection to astronomy, even though she didn't usually excel in the subject. And the faerie aspect, considering her egg, and she'd glanced at her bag again at that thought. Of course, she didn't think the book was referring to Shakespeare faeries, but it was still an interesting correlation.
