Ten years didn't go away just because she'd rather remember when she was a toddler. She'd looked up again as Matt finally spoke, though. Relieved that he hadn't questioned her earlier slip.

"What about History of Magic?," she asked, remembering that lesson. Professor Scabior definitely had a different outlook on the subject than any of her previous History of Magic professors. Of course, there was also the fact he was easier to look at than most of her other History of Magic professors, but she was fairly certain that wasn't what Matt was confused about. In fact, as she tried geting back to actual studying in her thoughts, she noticed Matt had started sketching on some parchment and found it was easier to just move from distraction to distraction than just break free altogether. Leaning forward, she tried to see what he was drawing, notes abandoned for the time being.
Trying to rearrange his thoughts as Stella had asked about History of Magic, Matt decided to continue on his sketch before answering; at least that was going to be a good distraction until he could say something that didn't sound completely stupid. He grabbed a different colour of ink and started outlining the image of a phoenix in red before cluing in that he should actually say something without this being completely awkward and weird. Stop thinking, are you intentionally trying to be all odd here? "Oh, I don't think I was actually there for that class so I was wondering if you could at least explain it. Honestly, I think going back home now was a seriously bad idea on my part.. way too much to do." He sighed slightly and continued on his sketch before even trying to go back to the textbooks, honestly they could wait.

As the image of the phoenix became more visible, he realized that this wasn't exactly productive nor was it the reason that he was in the library to begin with but at least this was the chance to sketch out an idea that he'd been thinking about for the past little while. "So tell me isn't the fact that you're a Ravenclaw and hanging out in the library kind of living up to the old traits of the house?" For some reason he was feeling like bringing up such a random point, if it brought up some kind of debate then game on; he could handle it.
