Jory decided not to say anything; Gwen looked as if she regretted it. ''Back to extra work as soon as you're here, huh?'' He looked at the book and wondered how many potions were listed in there.
"How about making a list of the potions that sounds good to you and then narrowing it down to the ones that you really would like to make?'' the young Huffie suggested. ''Have you made any potions last year? Out of class, I mean.'' He took a seat next to Gwen, peering at the book. "I was reading Fantastic beasts and where to find them. My common room's noisy. How was your holiday, anyway?''
Gwen wanted to start apologizing for her behaviour, but didn’t.
What’s the point in saying ‘I’m sorry’, anyway? I really don’t get it, she thought and continued flipping the pages of the book, trying to remember a few page numbers.
Back to extra work as soon as I’m here?Yes, Gwendolyn wanted to reply, but didn’t.
‘Are you mocking me?’, the second year asked him, not really with a cold tone, like she usually did, but actually smirking. Looking at Jory, Gwendolyn gave him a crooked smile.
He looks so puzzled!, the young Ravenclaw realized, not sure why Jory stared at that book for such a long time.
‘I know it’s pretty much…. ‘, she wanted to start explaining, but then stopped.
Explain what? He didn’t ask anything! ‘All right….Mister know-it-all’, Gwen said and tried not to frown but couldn’t. That was actually a good idea and the ravie was upset she didn’t come up with that herself.
‘Aham….let’s see’, she mumbled, starting to write on a new piece of parchment. While flipping the pages of the book and writing down each potion mentioned in there, she heard Jory ask her something.
‘I did…. The Wit-Sharpening potion’, Gwen replied proudly.
‘Really?’, she asked and glimpsed at the book that he held in his hand.
‘I planed on reading that…’ But eventually gave up that idea. There are plenty more interesting books in this library. ‘What’s it like?’ Your Common room is noisy?!? O_____o
Of course… it is full of Hufflepuffs. Ugh- those dumb first year Hufflepuffs, probably. The ones she almost hexed at the start of the term.
‘My holiday?’, she repeated, more like to herself, while writing a few more potions on the piece of parchment.
‘It was all right. I spend most of my holiday with my parents. Home. I started….’ Learning how to fly, she wanted to finish the sentence.
‘… practicing more for Quidditch’.
Meh… it’s not like I lied about it….
‘And I also met a few friends. How about you?’
After a while, Gwen placed the quill down, and looked at the piece of parchment.
‘These are…. Quite enough, I guess’, she admitted.
‘Can you help me pick one?’, she asked Jory.
Something interesting, preferably…
