She blinked her big blue eyes at herself in the mirror, and noted that she looked as perplexed as she felt by those words.
The apology was followed by another heavy, long, awkward round of silence from Neptune. She could HEAR herself breathing and every drip and drop and leak and... bleh.
".... I shouldn't have been there at all. You were right." About all of it. Meh. Neptune turned her posture slightly away from Marie, but she could still see the Slytherin in the mirror, and the Slytherin her as well via reflections.

Marie's eyes got big as Neptune spoke. Neptune was telling Marie that she was right? Well now, this was an unexpected turn of events.
Looking at the girl through the mirror her expression softened.
"No, you were just as worried as I was. You had just as much right to be there as I did... maybe even more than I did." She trailed off. Stopping for a minute she bit on her bottom lip. This was a lot harder than she thought it would be but if she stopped now she knew she would never say what she was thinking.
Taking a deep breath and looking away from Neptune's reflection she continued.
"I know I don't stand a chance of Jim ever caring for me the way he cares for you." Looking back at Neptune now she felt her eyes stinging a little.
No.
She wasn't going to cry. It wasn't going to happen. Not here, not in front of Neptune.
Must say what she wanted to before it was to late.
"You're the one he carries in his heart, not me. I can't ever compete with that. That's why I..." Deep breath Marie, you can do this.
"That's why I broke up with him."
