*Pulling out a handkerchief he put it in a pitcher of ice water then tapped her shoulder.*
"Now sit up and hold this to your forehead, but keep your eyes closed."
*He guessed by the way she was hiding her face that the light hurt her. Waiting until she sat up he put his fingers on the side of her head next to her eyes.*
"Now I'm going to rub the side of your head so don't freak out and hit me okay?"
*He waited to see if she would be okay with him doing that.*
