Rowan entered the dorm room and looked around. Everything seemed quiet. She walked over to her bedside table and placed the lilacs her friend had given her next to the photo of her parents. She gently caressed the frame with her finger and whispered, "I love you." Even though she had a new family now, she still thought about her Mum and Dad all the time. "I miss you," she said. As she bent to remove her shoes, her hand was slapped by a large white paw, making her jump. "Panda you rascal!" She laughed as her very large black and white cat came out from under the bed purring. Rowan scooped her up, gave the cat a big hug, then placed her on the bed. "Okay," she laughed. "You got me that time." Rowan pulled her sketch pad and pencils out of her bag and sat down on the bed to draw.
