I can speak German, English, Chinese, and Spanish. (In order of "fluentness". )
I also had two years of French in school, but unfortunately I forgot most of that. I also had Latin for seven years, but there aren't many opportunities to speak it, obviously. It's very helpful with Spanish, though - makes it easy to understand Portuguese and Italian.

Non-fiction: The Science of Kissing by Sheril Kirshenbaum. Read this recently, I can definitely recommend it. Fun book, who doesn't want to read about kissing.
Fiction: I haven't had a lot of time for fiction recently. =[ Company by Max Barry is something I picked up, like, a year ago, and I reread it a few weeks ago. Very good.

There's one really mundane reason for it: I'm good at it. Can't help you out with maths or anything like that. But I've always had a bit of a knack for languages. I sort of "get" grammar and vocabulary and how the language is used without too much thinking.
A more presentable reason: I love learning about other countries and cultures, and understanding the language really helps.
